A beautiful smile doesn’t happen by accident. It starts with a plan!
This transformation was accomplished with three conservative treatments: tooth recontouring, Invisalign, and professional whitening.
But here’s something you might find interesting about how we approach cases like this.
We actually recontour the teeth BEFORE beginning Invisalign!
Why? Because the shape and length of the edges of your front teeth play an important role in how your finished smile will look. By carefully refining those edges first, we can plan tooth movement around the desired final shapes and positions.
It’s a small detail that can make a big difference in the final result.
No crowns. No veneers. Just careful planning, attention to detail, and a commitment to preserving natural tooth structure.

Our 700+ degree Ooni usually has one job around here: PIZZA. 🍕

Not this time.

For our HBD fall lunch, Dr. Mark decided to see what would happen when prime rib cap steaks met a screaming-hot pizza oven.

The answer?

A pretty spectacular crust on the outside and a beautiful medium rare on the inside. 🥩🔥

We added some Marry Me Chicken and all the fixings, and suddenly nobody seemed particularly concerned about those unpainted pumpkins. 😂

Good food, a glass of w**e, lots of laughs, and an afternoon with some of our favorite people.

Not a bad Plan B.

Transformation Thursday 🦷

Sometimes the best treatment plan is the one that fits what a patient is ready for right now.

This patient came to us after breaking two of his front teeth. There were other things we could see and discuss from a comprehensive standpoint, but that wasn’t what he wanted to address at this time.

His priority was simple: “I just want my two broken teeth fixed.”

So that’s what we did.

Using conservative composite bonding, we rebuilt the broken areas and worked to restore the natural shape, proportion, and appearance of his teeth—without committing him to more treatment than he was ready for.

We believe in looking at the whole picture and making sure our patients understand their options. But comprehensive dentistry doesn’t mean every patient has to do everything we recommend, or do it all at once.

Sometimes it means developing a long-term plan, taking care of the immediate concern, and leaving the door open for the future.

For this patient, today was about fixing two broken teeth—and giving him his smile back.

Today, Bundt cakes. Yesterday, homemade pumpkin bars! 🎃

One of our amazing hygienists surprised the team with these homemade pumpkin bars yesterday —and yes, they tasted every bit as good as they look.

We’d show you a picture of the talented baker, but she informed us that she did NOT come to work prepared for a social media photo today. 😂

Bundt Cakes, Bundt Cakes… we all scream for Bundt Cakes! 🎂😂

There are definitely worse surprises to get at work!

Our Lead dental assistant, Lexi, got a very sweet delivery from her boyfriend today — a whole box of Nothing Bundt Cakes! And thankfully, she was willing to share. 😋

Six flavors. Six very happy taste-testers. And maybe a little less productivity this afternoon. 😂

Thank you for the surprise treat — our team was more than happy to help make sure none went to waste!

Now the important question… which flavor are you grabbing first?

A big thank you to Dr. Henry and his team for surprising our office with lunch from Panera!

One of the things we value most at Hinrichs & Buckley Dentistry is the relationships we’ve built with talented specialists in our community. Dr. Henry is a plastic and oral surgeon we have the privilege of working with when a patient’s care requires a collaborative approach.

Great dentistry is rarely about just one procedure—or sometimes even one doctor. Having specialists we know and trust allows us to work together, plan carefully, and help provide our patients with the best possible outcome.

And apparently, they also know the way to our hearts. 😂🥖

Transformation Thursday ✨

Sometimes the most important question in dentistry is simply:

“Why?”

When this patient came to us, her front teeth had experienced significant wear and had become noticeably shorter over time.

She had recently been seen at another dental office, but the wear had never been discussed. More importantly, there had been no conversation about why her teeth were wearing down in the first place.

Before we considered restoring anything, we took the time to evaluate her entire dental system—including how her teeth fit together and function.

Because simply making worn teeth look better without understanding why they became worn can mean missing the most important part of the diagnosis.

Once we understood what was happening, we could design a treatment plan that restored the length, proportions and natural appearance of her teeth while also accounting for the forces that contributed to the wear.

There was one other thing she wanted to improve. She felt that she showed too much gum when she smiled. Rather than choosing a more invasive treatment, we were able to address her “gummy smile” conservatively with Botox.

The result is certainly a beautiful transformation—but the before-and-after photo only shows part of the story.

At Hinrichs & Buckley Dentistry, a thorough dental examination is about more than looking for cavities or deciding which teeth need treatment.

We want to understand how your teeth, gums, bite and smile work together—and, when we find a problem, understand why it happened before deciding how to fix it.

Annual HBD Pumpkin Painting Day! 🎃

Well… technically, there wasn’t much pumpkin painting this year. 😂

Every fall, our team gets together at Dr. Mark’s house for lunch and one of our favorite traditions—painting pumpkins.

This year, Nebraska weather had other ideas. ☔️

The white pumpkins were ready. The paints were ready. The team was ready.

And then…the rain came.

Fortunately, we still managed to bring a little fall inside. One of our hygienists grew these beautiful gourds herself, and they made the perfect centerpiece for lunch. 🎃

The pumpkins, however, went home exactly as they arrived—completely unpainted. 😂

But don’t worry…we found a few other ways to make the most of the afternoon. More to come!

Sometimes the best result comes from doing things in the right order.

Our patient came to us believing that all of his teeth needed to be extracted and replaced with implants.

But before replacing teeth, we first asked a different question: Could we create a better foundation and save more of his natural teeth?

We started with Invisalign to straighten his teeth and move them into healthier, more favorable positions. Once the teeth were properly positioned, we could restore his smile using a carefully planned combination of crowns, bridges, and a few implants where they were truly needed.

This is what interdisciplinary dentistry is all about—using orthodontics, restorative dentistry, and implant dentistry together rather than looking at each tooth as an isolated problem.

The result? We were able to preserve natural teeth that our patient thought he was going to lose while rebuilding his smile and function as a whole.

Straighten first. Preserve what we can. Restore what needs restoring. Replace only what truly needs replacing.

Sometimes great dentistry isn’t about doing more. It’s about doing the right things, in the right sequence.

A brighter smile for a very special day. 🤍

With her son’s wedding approaching, our patient wanted to do something simple for herself—brighten her smile before all of those wedding-day photos.

A little professional whitening was all it took to give her smile a noticeably brighter, fresher appearance while still looking completely natural.

Sometimes the smallest changes can make you feel just a little more confident for life’s biggest moments.
