Last week, we had the great honor to present the American Academy of Periodontology’s 2024 Outstanding Periodontal Educator award to Dr. Wayne Kaldahl! This prestigious award recognizes periodontists who have made a lasting impact in the field of periodontics and demonstrated exceptional dedication, innovation and leadership in education.

Dr. Kaldahl practiced at Pioneer Periodontics for over 30 years during which he had a tremendous influence in building our practice philosophies of ethics, honesty and respect for all our patients. Outside of his private practice, Dr. Kaldahl is also internationally known within the field of periodontics for his research on periodontal therapy to save teeth. He also taught hygienists, dentists and residents for 45 years at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.

Dr. Kaldahl exemplifies what makes our practice special - a family of loving, skilled practitioners who strive to gain more knowledge and improve patient care every day. We are so grateful for him and his willingness to serve as a mentor to our doctors and staff today!

We are very excited to welcome Dr. Paula Schlemmer, DMD, MS to the Pioneer Periodontics & Implant Dentistry team!

Dr. Schlemmer began her career as a general dentist before deciding to specialize in periodontics, and she completed her further studies and residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry. She and her husband, Dr. Jake Schlemmer, MD, live in Lincoln with their daughter Ellie with another child on the way! They are both involved with the National Christian Medical and Dental Association and look forward to going on more medical/dental mission trips in the future. Dr. Schlemmer enjoys crocheting, scrapbooking, knitting, and painting in her free time. She is excited to begin a long and rewarding career as a periodontist!

We are very excited to welcome Dr. Paula Schlemmer, DMD, MS to the Pioneer Periodontics & Implant Dentistry team!
