This is a very difficult post to write out and one that I have honestly been avoiding as long as I could. However, many are receiving their final letters from the office that explains that I am closing and the news, of course, spreads quickly. I wish I could talk to everyone in person but that just isn’t possible.
It was always my dream, since I was a little girl, to be a dentist. I can blame that on Dr. Henry who was my dentist in Russell Springs. He was so good to me when I was his patient and then went on to mentor me and later help me get into dental school.
I love this community and the people who helped shape me into the person I am now. So, I always wanted to give back as much as I could. After dental school I wanted to come back home and have my own dental practice, be my own boss and to have my children there in the office with me as close to me as possible, as much as possible. I had always said I would have a personal office with a couch and bathroom and plenty of room for my family to be comfortable in while I worked just a few feet away.
How blessed I’ve been that all of these dreams became reality and that for almost 9 years I lived this dream.
However, being a dentist in my own office was never really my biggest dream. Dentistry is just the career that allows me to provide for my actual dreams come true: Madison, Mayson, Maverick and Maxxim.
And so, with every new season in life, there is change. Change is so hard, but necessary.
Therefore, I have accepted a full time position with the mobile dental program that is a part of Healthy Kids Clinic. I will be providing dental treatment on children who are in the most need. This will allow me to spend more quality time with my own children and to let go of the stress that comes with being a business owner.
I know that going to the dentist is not what most people look forward to. But, I hope that while you were in my chair I made you feel welcomed and comfortable. I hope we shared lots of laughs, and I’m glad I was able to share some tears with some of you when it was called for. Many of you have become like family and I looked forward to all of our visits. I have always considered my employees to be part of my family and tried to treat them as such. These are the things and the people I will miss the most.
Thank you all for your loyalty and patronage all of these years. I will be forever thankful that you helped support a small business owner and her family.
I will be seeing patients who were scheduled through the end of this month and I will still be finishing up big cases and seeing emergencies as I can throughout August. Letters have been sent out to everyone. Please call the office with any questions. We are more than happy to help you find and transfer to your new dental home.
Thank you all for your support and understanding as I enter this new chapter of life. I will miss you all.
Love,
Dr. Laura
