Braces are meant to move teeth… but sometimes extra tissue can get in the way! ✨
This patient underwent a lip tie release and gingivectomy during orthodontic treatment to improve both function and smile aesthetics. A tight lip tie can create excess tension on the gums and make oral hygiene more difficult, while excess gum tissue can cover too much of the teeth, trap plaque, and interfere with proper bracket placement and tooth movement during braces treatment. 🦷

By removing the excess tissue and releasing the lip tie, we were able to improve tissue health, create better access for brushing and flossing, and help achieve a more balanced smile throughout braces treatment 😀
