I loved and respected my dad, but all who knew him knew he wasn’t an easy man; there was his way, and, well—his way. He taught us early and often to stand up for what a Stites should believe in—hard work, honesty, love for our family. Never tolerate or back down from a bully. Should I or my brothers stray from his principles, we paid with hard, old-fashioned discipline, but we never doubted that he still had our backs in any conflict.

I’ve tried to carry those principles my dad taught me, adding some of my own, of course, and in turn, passing those on to my children: being ā€œrightā€ is not as important as being happy and kind, give to those in need, find and follow God’s plan for your life. They will decide which tenets they pass on, and so on. Most of all, I want them to know I’ve always loved being their father and want the very best for their lives.

As for bullies—the only kind I tend to now is furry. She hopes I’ll exchange a cookie for a toothsome smile or give a wriggling rump a good scratch.

Happy Father’s Day! Take a stand and allow your loved ones to celebrate you.

ADOPT is a fun way to motivate kids to improve their oral hygiene routine by tracking their brushing on our specially designed calendar. A fully completed calendar earns a prize at the next checkup, as well as eligibility to be chosen for a larger prize at the end of the year. 😁

In addition, we will donate $1,000 to the Lee’s Summit Animal Shelter in the name of the winning child’s family.

ADOPT will not only be improving kids’ dental health, but, along with Rosie’s PAAC, the program will be contributing to our ongoing charitable effort to support our homeless furry friends. 🐶

To all of our mothers, we wish you a day of remembering the best of the past while making the most of the present, a day of looking forward to the future. We send to you all the smiles, hugs, and kisses that should have been given but were forgotten in the haste of living. We give you our thank-you’s for allowing us to rest our hearts securely and peacefully on your shoulder.

Happy St. Patrick's Day and most importantly, Happy Birthday to Dr. Stites šŸ€šŸ’š

February is a special month at Stites Dental Care. It’s the month when a national spotlight shines on children’s dental health as well as the love and care of pets. Both causes are dear to our hearts.

Speaking of hearts, February also brings us Valentines. What better time than now, we asked ourselves, to introduce you to our latest heartthrob?

So, without further ado (except that drumroll, please), we present—
šŸ’•šŸ’•šŸ’•DOTTIE STITESšŸ’•šŸ’•šŸ’•

Dottie, a stunning English bulldog with greenish-brown eyes and an all-over-spotted coat of many colors, joined Dr. Stites’ family in February, 2021.

After a full year of blissful puppyhood—snuggles and kisses, treats and toys, chewing everything in sight, and failing to learn the word, ā€œNO!ā€ā€”this seems the perfect time for Dottie to join the PAAC and run with the big dogs.

In addition to lending her paw to help further the cause of Rosie’s PAAC, Dottie will head up a new program designed just for our pups—uh, we mean young patients—aged 1-10 years, called (cue trumpets, please):

šŸ’•šŸ’•Adorable Dottie Oversees Pawfect Teeth, or ADOPT. šŸ’•šŸ’•

Just like our PAAC initiative, a percentage of profits* from your children’s checkups will be donated to the Lee’s Summit Animal Shelter from the ADOPT program.

On a day-to-day basis, Dottie will lend her name and adorable photos to an exclusive calendar and stickers designed to encourage kids to develop and track good brushing habits.

When a pup—CHILD, we mean child—returns for a checkup and brings in a completed calendar, he or she is awarded a prize to acknowledge a job well done. Furthermore, his or her name will be entered into a yearly drawing for a bigger prize, as well as the opportunity for a $1,000 donation in the parents’ names to be given to the Shelter.

We hope Dottie’s adorable charm brings a smile to your children’s faces and helps them value the importance of dental health. We’re also excited to see how ADOPT adds to the legacy and legend of Dottie’s big sis, Rosie’s PAAC.

Yes, February is an important month around here. Rosie’s PAAC and now ADOPT are really our Valentines to our patients, just a small way we can encourage smiles and dental health, say thank you, and then return your support through the years back into our community.

And if any of you have a surefire way of teaching a spirited bull pup the meaning of the word, ā€œNO,ā€ please speak to my wife. šŸ’•

Yours,

Dennis A. Stites, DDS
