The Leadville Dental Center has been closed to all but emergency dental needs since March 17th. As of May 4th, we will reopen and begin providing routine treatment again. We are now in the process of scheduling all patients who had appointments cancelled or treatment delayed during our closure.
For the foreseeable future, operations in our office will be adjusted to address current safety concerns and to help prevent the continued spread of the Coronavirus.
Prior to arrival. All scheduled patients will be contacted by phone to be screened for potential COVID-19 symptoms or exposure.
Arriving for appointment. We are staggering appointments to allow social distancing between patients. To accomplish this, please arrive AT your scheduled time. Arriving early or late disrupts this effort to keep everyone safely distanced from one another. Please enter the office by yourself and with a mask covering your mouth and nose. Any covering will do. If the appointed patient is a minor, the best choice is to hand the child off to us as you enter, then wait in your car until we are finished. If that鈥檚 not possible, one parent or guardian may accompany the child and will be screened the same as any scheduled patient. As you enter the office, you will be directed to a screening area where your temperature will be taken and hand sanitizer will be available.
During appointment. Fortunately, our office is large enough to safely space people. Our waiting area has been reconfigured to restrict the number of people using it and keep the few patients using it at a safe social distance. Barriers are in place to keep contact between patients and administrative team members at a safe distance. Clinical team members will be using appropriate personal protective equipment.
We recognize that some of these measures can be inconvenient and some people may even find them unnecessary. Over time we expect them to be relaxed, but they are non-negotiable. They are put in place with guidance from experts in epidemiology, public health, and healthcare, who seem to be consistent in their recommendations. While we encourage everyone who can safely leave their homes to resume routine dental care at this time, we understand that some may elect to wait until normal operations resume and all precautions are lifted. Unfortunately, there is no way to predict how long that may be.
Stay healthy and we hope to see you soon.
Sincerely,
Lance Schamberger, DDS
