👅✨ Are You Forgetting One Important Step in Your Oral Care Routine?

Brushing and flossing are essential, but what about your tongue? Your tongue can harbor bacteria and food debris that contribute to bad breath.

That’s where a tongue scraper comes in! 🦷

💡 Why add one to your routine?

✨ Helps remove bacteria and buildup from the tongue
😁 Helps freshen your breath
🪥 Complements your daily brushing and flossing routine
💙 Supports better overall oral hygiene

How to use one: Gently glide the scraper from the back of your tongue toward the tip, rinsing it between passes. Avoid scraping too hard, and stop if you experience irritation.

It’s a simple addition that can make a difference in your daily oral care routine!

Have questions about improving your oral hygiene? The team at GFDC in Lawrenceville is happy to help you keep your smile healthy and fresh. 🦷✨

🎬 Movie Quote Monday!

“If you focus on what you left behind, you will never see what lies ahead.” — Ratatouille

Don’t let an old dental experience—or how long it’s been since your last appointment—keep you from moving forward. 😉

Today is a great day to start fresh and give your smile the attention it deserves!

✨ New day. Fresh start. Healthier smile.

🦷 Ever wonder how a cavity actually forms?

It starts with something tiny: plaque.

When bacteria in your mouth feed on sugars and carbohydrates left behind after you eat, they produce acids. Over time, those acids can wear away your tooth’s protective enamel.

➡️ Plaque builds up
➡️ Bacteria produce acid
➡️ Enamel weakens
➡️ A cavity can form

The good news? Cavities are largely preventable with good daily oral care and regular dental checkups.

Your teeth do a lot for you—give them the care they deserve! 😁

🍝🍰 Two of the best food holidays happen in the same week… coincidence? We think not. 😂

This week brings National Pasta Day AND National Dessert Day, which means this week is basically a celebration of carbs and sugar (just be sure to brush and floss after celebrating these days!)

A few fun facts to impress your dinner table:

🍝 Pasta: There are more than 350 different types of pasta—from spaghetti and penne to orecchiette and farfalle. And yes, farfalle means “butterflies” in Italian!

🍰 Dessert: The word “dessert” comes from the French desservir, meaning “to clear the table.” Apparently, clearing the dinner table was once the official signal that it was time for something sweet!

So whether your perfect pairing is spaghetti + tiramisu, lasagna + cannoli, or mac & cheese + chocolate cake… we fully support celebrating both.

What’s your pick? 🍝 Pasta first or dessert first? 👇

🦷 Your immune system doesn’t get its strength from a supplement alone. It starts with your everyday habits.

As we head into cold and flu season, the basics matter most:

💧 Stay hydrated
🥗 Choose nourishing, whole foods
😴 Get consistent sleep
🚶‍♀️ Move your body and get outside
🧘‍♀️ Manage stress
❤️ Stay connected with friends and family
🪥 Take care of your oral health

And don’t forget a few simple ways to keep germs at bay: wash your hands before flossing and replace your toothbrush or electric toothbrush head regularly. Your toothbrush can harbor bacteria, so keeping it fresh is part of a healthy oral-care routine.

Small habits add up—and taking care of your mouth is another important part of taking care of your overall health!

🌎 Today, we honor Indigenous Peoples.

On Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we recognize the rich cultures, traditions, history, and contributions of Indigenous communities—and the resilience of Indigenous peoples throughout generations.

One inspiring example is Wilma Mankiller, the first woman elected Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation. After growing up in Oklahoma, her family was forced to relocate to California as part of a federal program. Despite facing discrimination and significant health challenges later in life, Mankiller returned to Oklahoma and dedicated herself to improving life for Cherokee communities.

Her leadership helped bring greater access to healthcare, housing, education, and economic opportunities—and she became known for reminding people that “the secret of our success is that we never, never give up.”

Her life is a powerful reminder that leadership isn't always about one person. It's about lifting up your community, persevering through adversity, and creating a better future for those who come after you.

Today, we celebrate Indigenous cultures, honor Indigenous history, and recognize the contributions of Indigenous people—past and present.

💚 World Mental Health Day is tomorrow, October 10.

Your mental health and your oral health are more connected than you might think. Stress and anxiety can sometimes show up as teeth grinding, jaw tension, canker sores, or changes in your daily oral hygiene routine.

Today is a good reminder to take care of the whole you—mind, body, and smile. 🦷✨

Take a breath. Give yourself some grace. Reach out when you need support. And don’t forget to make time for the things that help you feel your best.

Because a healthy smile is just one part of a healthy you. 💚
