Hi Everyone,
Below is some of the science behind the NuCalm system that we use in our office to make your dental experience as relaxing and enjoyable as possible.
Binaural beats were discovered in 1839 by Heinrich Wilhelm Dove. There are thousands of binaural beat applications/products in the marketplace. A search in the App Store alone results in over 150 apps featuring binaural beats. The effect of binaural beats can be profound, but it is not consistent, predictable, and the brain typically develops a tolerance for the pattern after several exposures. They are nice to use when you are relaxed, but if you are actively in a stress response, they are not very useful. The technology is good for guiding brain wave function to a lower beta frequency. In rare cases, a user may achieve alpha brain wave dominance. If someone is stressed, their brain wave function will be in the high beta range (33-38Hz). The primitive midbrain survival function is very refined and robust (thousands of years of evolution will do that). Binaural beats will not entrain a stressed brain to alpha until the adrenals fatigue and the brain wave function naturally slows down - this could take 15 minutes or two hours depending on the person's physiology.
Now, here is how NuCalm is different. NuCalm uses a binaural signal processing, coupled with a sophisticated catalog of physics and algorithms to quickly, predictably, and consistently slow down high beta brain wave function to alpha/theta zones - every time and on every one. When we say quickly, we mean within three minutes regardless of context or circumstances. NuCalm does not rely on audio entrainment to do all the work. NuCalm uses neurochemistry to neutralize the stress response and then uses the world's most sophisticated physics entrainment to lock you in. Essentially, we don't bring a gun to a knife fight, we bring a tank!!
The science behind NuCalm’s neuroacoustic software is remarkable and complex, but we feel compelled to share. This is the first of a three-part series of emails so you can digest the science in manageable chunks.
Dr. Holloway (Inventor of NuCalm) on the Neuroscience Behind NuCalm 2.0
The objectives behind inventing the new NuCalm neuroacoustic software platform were to design physiologic outcomes focused on recovery, restoration, rebooting, and rebalancing… like fine-tuning a musical instrument.
I have spent several years immersed in the intriguing and exotic arena of quantum biology and neurophysics. New discoveries in neuroscience over the past decade allowed me to develop a neuroacoustic physics file that is faster acting, provides a deeper recovery and restoration experience, and predictably balances the mind and body.
According to Dr. Holloway, and many other leading scientists, all creation on this dimension is oscillatory. Mankind has become de-synchronized from the master oscillatory matrix. The greater the desynchronization, the greater the alienation and sense of isolation. We bring, with NuCalm, to the world, a technology that can re-synchronize and restore the lost complexity. NuCalm produces coherence in the heart, which is the true seat of intelligence. When the heart and brain connection is coherent even dormant DNA potentials are released.
In the invention process I focused on 4 critical areas of the brain:
Reticular activating system
Corpus callosum
HPA axis
Autonomic nervous system
To create effective neurobiofeedback within the complexities of the brain, I leveraged the auditory motor cortex, not just as a gateway for collecting auditory signals, but for its function in stimulating the prefrontal and frontal motor cortex. The brain is nonlinear, thus using proprietary, complex methods to present patterns that the brain won’t easily get bored with is a significant challenge. The binaural signal processing, frequency-following-response neurobiofeedback is foundational to the software but cannot be the only effective elements. I also used specific techniques to evoke potential on a cellular level and increase electrical output focused on certain brain regions.
The NuCalm binaural signal processing entrains the brain to flow from everyday beta brain waves of consciousness to deeply healing and restorative theta brain waves. The neuroacoustic software acts like a Nascar pace car leading the mind to a profound state of restoration at the cellular level. The creative collaboration with music producer Dan Selene adds a further level of complexity to the tracks due to the synergy between the software driver portion and the carrier of the software, which is the music integration that augments the outcome for optimal performance. I am excited for you to experience deep restoration and balance as we continue to change the planet by helping people predictably and safely manage stress on a personal level without drugs or side effects.
