Prosthodontist Qing visited two dental implant surgery navigation systems. X-nav guide and Yomi. I still feel X-nav makes more sense especially now it has photogrammetry included. Another big point, X-nav guide is proudly made in Lansdale PA, 5 minutes from our dental office!

Pt had full-mouth aesthetic dental work done to prepare for her wedding, unfortunately ended up with multiple issues: mal-occlusion, lip tension, TMJ discomfort and lisping speech issue. Pt came to Prosthodontist Dr. Qing. The wedding is around the corner, we don’t have time to overhaul the restoration but at least we can help by improving the TMJ, occlusion, smile and speech.

central challenge. Pt presented as an emergency #9 fractured (Figure 1-2). During the first visit, we were able to make her a temp fig3. Follow up, refine, final digital impression, and final prosthesis. Pt is a busy scientist and we did this in three visits. Ideally I would custom the shade a bit more by opaquing the cervical 1/3 and brown stain it. These pictures were taken on the same day of delivery. I hope to see better gingival condition during follow up.

Case: Implant restoration for a patient post-maxillectomy and free fibula graft.
The Slip: Muscle memory took over, and I prescribed a screw-retained prosthesis without confirming screwdriver access with post-surgery spasm/scar and mouth opening limitation.
The Fix: We remade the case as a cementable bridge, leading to a successful outcome.

From what I’ve seen over the years in this profession, the vast majority of people who bring their parents to the dentist to improve their quality of life are daughters. Sons are rarer, but when they do, it’s very moving.

This devoted eldest son wanted to give his mother the best care. He lives in South Philadelphia, while his mother lives in Lancaster taking care of his disabled younger brother. Every time, the eldest son gets up early to drive to Lancaster, picks up his mother and brother, brings them to the clinic—a one-way trip of over three hours—then takes them back after the appointment.

Last week was the six-month post-op checkup. The fixed dentures supported by six implants in her lower jaw and the overdenture secured by two implants in her upper jaw were all in great condition. The elderly lady looked radiant and noticeably stronger.
