Did You Know Your Saliva Helps Protect Your Teeth?

Saliva does more than keep your mouth moist! It plays an important role in keeping your teeth and gums healthy.

Saliva helps to:
✔️ Wash away food particles
✔️ Neutralize acids that can damage tooth enamel
✔️ Provide minerals that help strengthen teeth
✔️ Support a healthy balance of bacteria in your mouth

When your mouth is consistently dry, your risk of cavities and other oral health problems can increase.

Dental Tip: Stay hydrated throughout the day and talk with your dental team if you frequently experience dry mouth.

Healthy saliva = a healthier smile!

Grinding Your Teeth? It Could Be Affecting Your Fillings!

Did you know that teeth grinding and clenching can put extra stress on your dental fillings?

Over time, grinding can cause fillings to:
✔️ Chip or crack
✔️ Wear down
✔️ Become loose or damaged
✔️ Put extra stress on the surrounding tooth

If you notice a chipped filling, increased sensitivity, jaw soreness, or signs that you’re grinding your teeth, don’t ignore it!

Protect your smile: Talk with your dentist about treatment options, including whether a custom night guard may be right for you.

Your fillings are designed to restore your teeth—but they still need protection from excessive pressure!

Is Your Jaw Trying to Tell You Something?

Jaw pain, clicking, popping, headaches, or difficulty opening your mouth may be signs of TMJ problems.

Your temporomandibular joints (TMJs) connect your jawbone to your skull and help you chew, speak, and yawn. When these joints or the surrounding muscles become irritated, it can cause uncomfortable symptoms.

Common signs of TMJ issues:
✔️ Jaw pain or tenderness
✔️ Clicking or popping when opening your mouth
✔️ Frequent headaches
✔️ Earaches or facial pain
✔️ Difficulty chewing or opening your mouth

Don’t ignore ongoing jaw discomfort! Talk with your dental team about your symptoms and treatment options.

Healthy jaw. Comfortable smile.

Did You Know? Your Mouth Can Affect Your Overall Health!

Your oral health is about more than just your teeth! Poor oral hygiene can contribute to gum inflammation and other oral health problems.

Gum disease can lead to more than just bleeding or swollen gums. If left untreated, it may contribute to:
• 🦷 Tooth loss — advanced gum disease can damage the bone and tissues supporting your teeth.
• 🦠 Tooth and gum infections — pockets can form around teeth and harbor harmful bacteria.
• 😬 Bad breath — persistent odor can be associated with gum disease.
• 🩸 Gum recession and sensitivity — gums may pull away from the teeth.
• ❤️ Other health concerns — gum disease is associated with conditions such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes, although an association does not necessarily mean gum disease directly causes them.

Important: Bleeding gums aren't something to ignore. Early detection and professional treatment can help prevent gum disease from progressing.

Crowns: More Than Just a Pretty Smile!

Dental crowns can do more than improve the appearance of a tooth—they can help protect and strengthen a tooth that has been damaged or weakened.

A crown can help:
Restore a broken or worn tooth
Strengthen a tooth after a root canal
Improve the shape and appearance of a tooth
Restore normal chewing function
Protect a weakened tooth from further damage

Did you know? A crown is designed to cover the entire visible portion of the tooth above the gumline.
