ASTRAY IN THE HEART

God speaking in Psalm 95:10-11, as Moses was leading God's people through the wilderness for forty years:

For forty years I loathed that generation and said, "They are a people who go astray in their heart, and they have not known my ways." Therefore I swore in my wrath, "They shall not enter my rest."

Conclusion:
To enter God's rest, one must know God and His ways, doing our best to follow and obey Him, repenting and asking for forgiveness when we fall short, forgiveness procured by Christ alone.

PROFOUND TRUTH

Sin, the fall of mankind, and suffering did not catch God by surprise. He had foreknowledge that they would all occur. They were and still are, therefore, part of His sovereign purposes and plan. He uses Satan (and his fall before the fall of man), sin, evil, and suffering to reveal Himself to us in ways that only their existence can do. They all serve to shed a deeper and more profound comprehension and meaning of the cross of Christ, God's amazing grace, and His love for us. And yet, we are only scratching the surface.
