Dear Valued Patients,

We’re thrilled to share that our Fluoride Charity Program from last year was a tremendous success! Thanks to your generous support, we raised nearly $6,000 for the Bedford Twp Vets. Your contributions made a real difference in the lives of our local veterans, and we couldn't have done it without you!

Looking ahead, we are proud to announce our charity for the upcoming year: The Daughter's Project. This incredible organization is dedicated to educating and assisting victims of s*x trafficking, providing them with the resources and support they need to rebuild their lives. We believe in their mission and are committed to making a positive impact in our community.

Thank you for being a part of our Carlson Family Dentistry family. Together, we can continue to support those in need!

Stay tuned for more updates on how you can get involved!

Warm regards,
Dr. Carlson and the Team at Carlson Family Dentistry

Today we found this quilted heart hanging from our tree out front. On the back was a note saying it needed a home and we could learn more at www.ifaqh.com. Turns out it is a fun little thing where people quilt hearts and leave them in public places for people to find and bring a little smile to their face. So we posted our found heart on the website and took a few pictures. Thanks to whoever left it for us. Brought a little extra fun to the office today and a smile to everyone's face.

Well, it has been a while since a post and this one has been long overdue. Many of you have already met and seen our new (not so new anymore) hygienist Heather. She joined us in late June of 2023 and hit the ground running!

The wait is over and here are her answers to the get to know you questions!

1. Where are you from and where did you go to school? I'm from Woodhaven Michigan and went to Carlson Highschool in Gilbralter, MI. I then went to the University of Michigan for my hygiene training.
2. Would you rather cut the grass, do the dishes or fold laundry? Dishes
3. What is you favorite book? The Tattooist of Aushwitz
4. Who is your favorite musical artist? Otis Redding
5. If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be? Mediterranean Food
6. What is your favorite holiday? Christmas
7. Tell me about your family. I've been married for 10 years and have one kid who is already nine years old
8. What is your favorite place in Michigan? The Oscoda, Tawas area
9. What is your favorite Tropical Smoothie flavor (a very important question for our office)? Blueberry Bliss!
10. What is your favorite part of your job? Getting to help educate people about oral health and getting to meet new patients

Thanks to Heather for the answers and hope everyone had a little fun getting to know a little more about her. It is has been amazing having her on our team and we're certainly thankful for all the work she has done for our patients.

When we took over the practice from Dr. Martin in June of 2022, one of the things we decided to do was to cut the price of fluoride in half and to take all the money from fluoride and donate it to a local charity. Staff members all made recommendations on which charity and we voted as a team. We decided to support Team Recovery, an organization that works with addiction in Toledo and surrounding areas including Bedford.

This last Friday was the culmination of this year long act and ended with us being able to make our donation to Team Recovery. Ashley and I got to speak to the founders for over an hour and get a tour of their headquarters and we were blown away.

Team Recovery houses patients while in addiction recovery, does counseling with family members of those in need of help or who are in recover, speaks at schools all over the regions, has a 24/7 hotline and contracts with courts, government agencies, hospitals and ambulance services to provide resources and in-person help if necessary for those in the community who need help with addiction. Every step we took we saw evidence of their heart for their mission and their goal to provide empathetic and real care to our community members.

It was an honor to make this donation on behalf of Carlson Family Dentistry and to get to meet the people running this wonderful organization.

To all our patients, thank you for taking care of your oral health and through that, helping further take care of our community.

We'll be announcing soon the new charity for this upcoming year and we can't wait!

We had a great time yesterday celebrating our one year anniversary since taking over from Dr. Martin. Unfortunately the zombies got us before we escaped but it definitely did not stop us from having a lot of laughs and a lot of fun.

Well it has officially been one year since I took over Michael Martin DDS and became Carlson Family Dentistry. As we continue this journey, I wanted to use this milestone to express my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you for making this such an amazing first year. From the start, I felt a community of kind-hearted people who embraced me and my family with open arms. It has been more fulfilling and quite frankly, more fun, than I could have hoped for.
Since taking over we have strived to maintain the highest standard of dental care while focusing on creating a comfortable and welcoming environment for all of our patients. And as we have done this past year, we will continue to invest in advancements in technology and materials to ensure we are providing high level of care.
I would also like to express my heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Martin for his dedication and commitment to providing excellent dental care to this community over the years. He and Dr. Pawlicki laid a strong foundation and I am honored to continue the tradition that they began.
Again, I want to extend my deepest gratitude to all of your for being a part of this incredible journey. Your trust, loyalty and kind referrals are the greatest testament we can receive. We are excited to serve you for many more years to come.
All the best from me and the staff here at Carlson Family Dentistry. We’ll see you and your beautiful smiles soon!

Excited to introduce the newest member of the Carlson Family Dentistry family. My wife and I welcomed our new son, Kip Carlson on April 17 at about 3pm. While we may have a little less sleep than we normally like, it has already been so fun and joyful having little Kip with us. His big sister wants to be with him all the time and has loved having her new baby brother.

I'm so excited to share that we have finally had our new Pano X-ray machine installed this past week. When I purchased the practice in June of 2022 this was on the top of the list of things we knew we needed to add. A pano machine is considered by many to be a standard of care in dentistry and found in most offices so we're thrilled to get ours and begin to using it.

A panograph x-ray is one that takes an image of the entire upper and lower jaw, teeth, bone surrounding facial structures. It gives a bird's eye view of everything going on and can help identify infections, root malformations, wisdom teeth and importantly any pathological lesions occurring in the head. This is something that traditional x-rays can't show. The x-ray is generally taken once every five years and is almost always fully covered by insurance as it is considered standard.

Next time you're in we'll let you know if you are due for yours but this is a very exciting addition to the practice and the next step in making sure we are doing modern, current dentistry.

Our phones are currently down. We are working to resolve the issue.

You can contact us by texting 734-856-5022 or email us at [email protected] or contact us on Facebook Messenger. Hopefully we'll be back online soon.

The office will be closed tomorrow, Thursday February 23rd. We are heading to Chicago for the Mid-Winter Meeting, one of the largest dental conferences in the country. It is an opportunity for continuing education. It is always exciting to learn about what is new in dentistry and continue to grow our knowledge base. Every dentist and hygienist commits to continuously expanding their education while licensed and is required by law to complete yearly continuing education. This is not a chore but something we get great joy from. As always, if you have an emergency, please call the office and the voicemail will have an after hours number to call and leave a voicemail. That will come to both Ashley and Dr. Carlson and they can respond appropriately. We'll be excited to see everyone back bright and early on Monday. Have a great weekend.
