What is Gum Disease?
Gum disease usually starts with gingivitis, the first stage of gum disease. Signs of gingivitis include:
Bleeding gums when you brush and floss
Red, swollen, or puffy gums
Tender gums that may pull away from your teeth
Bad taste in your mouth
Bad breath
If left untreated, gingivitis can develop into periodontitis, a more severe form of gum disease. Periodontitis can damage the soft tissue around your teeth and destroy the bone that supports them. Complications include: Gum abscesses, Receding gums, Loose teeth, and Tooth loss. Speak with Kristi or Dr. Hurst at your next visit if you have any questions or concerns about Gum Disease. 😬
