I’m honored to have been recently featured by the American Board of Orthodontics!
Meet Dr. Ron Kolodziej!
Dr. Kolodziej’s path to orthodontics began in 7th grade when his own smile transformation left a lasting impression. "The cosmetic and functional improvements that my orthodontist accomplished for me were truly life-changing, and even at a young age I could appreciate the impact those changes would have for me," he shares.
Throughout his years in higher education, Dr. Kolodziej says one theme was consistent among his outstanding mentors, "They all encouraged me to pursue the highest educational offerings for whatever field I landed in." During his orthodontic residency at the University of Iowa, he admits, board certification was not initially on his radar. However, the same influence guided him again. "The faculty in my program opened my eyes to the educational benefits on becoming board certified. I soon realized that if I wanted to complete my orthodontic education to the fullest, I'd need to experience what the board certification process was all about." Dr. Kolodziej became ABO-Board Certified in 2005.
At his practice, Ronald P. Kolodziej, DMD, MS, LLC in Lakewood, Ohio, Dr. Kolodziej describes himself as a "wet-gloved" orthodontist, personally performing many intra-oral tasks, even the basic ones. “It gives me a great sense of accomplishment each day and more one-on-one time with my patients."
Reflecting on this journey, Dr. Kolodziej says "Achieving board certification (and re-certification) was definitely a worthwhile educational endeavor. Without doubt, it helped me become a better clinician and expanded my knowledge base in ways that I apply daily. It's one of the best decisions I've made regarding my career."
