September already?! 🍂 We’ll blink and the holidays will be here!

Before the end-of-year rush hits, make sure you’re getting the most out of your 2026 dental insurance benefits. Many dental plans reset on January 1, which means unused benefits may be lost.

🦷 Due for your cleaning or dental exam?
🦷 Have treatment you’ve been putting off?
🦷 Still have insurance benefits or FSA/HSA funds to use?

Don’t wait until December! Our schedule fills quickly toward the end of the year. Call Dental Arts of Atlantis and reserve your appointment while there’s still plenty of time.

💙 **GLP-1 Medications & Your Smile: What You Need to Know**

GLP-1 medications like **Ozempic®, Wegovy®, Mounjaro®, and Zepbound®** have helped many people improve their health—but did you know they can also affect your oral health?

Some patients taking GLP-1 medications may experience:
🦷 Dry mouth
🦷 Increased risk of cavities
🦷 Tooth sensitivity
🦷 Acid reflux and enamel erosion
🦷 Changes in nutrition that can impact your teeth and gums

The good news? These side effects can often be prevented or minimized with the right dental care and healthy habits.

Here are a few simple ways to protect your smile:
💧 Stay hydrated throughout the day
🪥 Brush twice daily with fluoride toothpaste
🦷 Floss every day
🍎 Focus on nutrient-rich foods and adequate protein
📅 Keep up with regular dental cleanings and exams

Your mouth is an important part of your overall health, and we're here to help you protect it every step of the way.

If you're taking a GLP-1 medication—or thinking about starting one—let us know at your next visit. Together, we can create a plan to keep your smile healthy while you work toward your health goals.

👂😣 Is Your "Ear Pain" Really a TMJ Problem?

Many people are surprised to learn that ear pain, ear fullness, ringing in the ears (tinnitus), headaches, facial pain, and even neck tension can actually be related to TMJ dysfunction—not an ear infection.

The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) sits directly in front of your ear. When the muscles around the jaw become tight, inflamed, or overworked from clenching, grinding, stress, or bite imbalances, the pain can radiate into the ear and surrounding areas.

One treatment we offer at Dental Arts of Atlantis is Dry Needling.

What is Dry Needling?
Dry needling uses a very thin, sterile filament needle to target tight muscle "knots" (trigger points). By releasing these trigger points, the muscles can relax, blood flow improves, and pain is often significantly reduced.

Patients often report relief from:
✔️ Ear pain and pressure
✔️ Jaw pain and clicking
✔️ Headaches and migraines
✔️ Facial tension
✔️ Neck pain
✔️ Teeth clenching and grinding discomfort

The treatment is quick, minimally invasive, and can be an excellent addition to a comprehensive TMJ treatment plan.

If you've been struggling with ear pain and have been told everything looks normal, your TMJ may be the real culprit.

📞 Call Dental Arts of Atlantis at (561) 965-6003 to schedule a TMJ evaluation and learn if dry needling may be right for you.
