Investing in a formalized Caregiver
Desensitization and Specialized Tool Supply Program like Dental Desensitization Systems, transforms child and adult IDD oral hygiene from a reactive crisis-intervention model to a proactive prevention model.

The current "neglect-then-emergency" cycle of IDD dental care especially for adults is incredibly expensive.

Government programs would save an estimated $1.1 billion to $2.5 billion yearly if 50% of adults and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) no longer required general anesthesia (GA) or deep sedation for dental procedures.

Because dental procedures are categorized as elective, hospitals allocate very little OR time to dentists. In many states, the waitlist for an adult with IDD to get a single sedated dental cleaning or extraction ranges from 1 to 3+ years.

The current approach to oral health care for children and adults with IDD is broken and ineffective.

Desensitization and Caregiver training are the only long term solutions that are sustainable to ensure every person with IDD remains healthy and sustains lifelong quality dental care.
