Who said expander turns had to be boring?!

We turned treatment into Bingo and challenged our patients to take her expander key on the road. Target ✔️ Starbucks ✔️ Better Buzz ✔️ Jersey Mike’s ✔️

Because if you have to turn your expander… you might as well make it fun.

Where’s the craziest place YOU’VE ever turned your expander?!

You’ve heard of peptides for your skin… but what about peptides for your teeth? 🦷✨

Curodont uses a self-assembling peptide called P11-4 that penetrates early, non-cavitated lesions and creates a scaffold that helps attract calcium and phosphate—supporting remineralization from within the lesion.

Translation: for the right early cavity, we may have another tool to help stop progression before it turns into something that needs a filling.

Dentistry is getting pretty cool. 👀

We have been keeping something pretty exciting under wraps for a while now.

Any guesses? 👀

We love finding fun ways to keep our kiddos consistent with their treatment—and this patient absolutely crushed the challenge!
Who’s going to be our next SOCO Expander Bingo winner?! 👀

Dentist-approved. Mom-approved.

As both a dentist and a mom, I’m always looking for simple ways to help lower my kids’ cavity risk — and Povi-One™ 10% Povidone-Iodine from Elevate Oral Care is one of the tools we use.

Povi-One is an antimicrobial treatment that helps reduce cavity-causing bacteria in the mouth. It doesn’t remineralize teeth itself, but by helping control the bacterial load, it can be a great addition to a personalized cavity-prevention routine.

And yes — this is something I use on my own kids, too.

Because cavity prevention isn’t just about brushing harder. It’s about understanding why your child is getting cavities and using the right tools for their risk factors.

Everyone is looking for the next sports advantage.

Private lessons. Better equipment. Strength coaches.

But one of the most overlooked performance factors is breathing.

Research has found that children with chronic mouth breathing often have reduced exercise capacity and poorer performance on standardized physical tests compared with nasal breathers.

If your child:

✔️ Sleeps with their mouth open
✔️ Snores
✔️ Seems tired despite enough sleep
✔️ Tires quickly during sports

…it may be worth having their airway evaluated. At SOCO, we provide complimentary airway evaluations and come to the table with a network of providers like ENTs, myofunctional therapists, and allergists to get to the root cause of your child’s mouth-breathing.

Healthy breathing isn’t just about sports. It’s about healthy growth.

One of the easiest ways to help prevent cavities? Treat the bacteria—not just the teeth. 🦷✨

This quick, painless treatment uses povidone-iodine to temporarily reduce cavity-causing bacteria, helping create a healthier oral environment for children at higher risk for decay.

It’s:
✔️ Fast
✔️ Non-invasive
✔️ Applied in-office, with simple follow-up applications at home
✔️ Part of a personalized cavity prevention plan

At SOCO, we believe prevention is always better than treatment. That’s why we customize each child’s care based on their cavity risk—not a one-size-fits-all approach.

Have questions about whether Povi-One is right for your child? We’d love to help!

✨ What if braces weren’t the first step?

This little smile tells a much bigger story.

Before treatment, this patient had a narrow upper jaw, crowding, a high vaulted palate, mouth breathing, snoring, and was diagnosed with sleep apnea. Instead of simply waiting for bigger problems, we focused on guiding growth while it was still possible.

Phase I expansion increased the width of the palate from 28.6 mm to 38.7 mm, creating more room for the teeth, tongue, and airway. Then, the MyoShaper helped reinforce healthy tongue posture and muscle function, supporting stable results as growth continued.

Early orthodontic treatment isn’t just about straight teeth—it’s about creating the right environment for a child to grow and thrive.

If your child snores, mouth breathes, has crowded baby teeth, or has been told to “wait until all the adult teeth come in,” it may be worth getting an early orthodontic evaluation.

Thinking about Phase 1 orthodontics for your child? Timing matters more than you might think. There’s a small window—typically between ages 6 and 9—when we can guide growth, support airway development, and create space for proper alignment in ways that aren’t possible later on.

Before deciding to wait or move forward, ask the right questions:
Was their growth evaluated?
Was their airway considered?
What could skipping Phase 1 mean for Phase 2?

Making an informed decision now can make all the difference later.
