Our truly interdisciplinary group includes specialists in orthodontics, periodontics, endodontics, and oral and maxillofacial radiology, along with talented dental laboratory technicians. Together, we learn, share ideas, and collaborate to provide excellent patient care.

✨ Treating People, Not Patients ✨

What an inspiring day for our dental community! Metro West Orthodontics and Periodontics welcomed 120 dentists and dental team members for a full-day seminar with Dr. Michael Sonick, an outstanding periodontist, speaker, author, and educator from Connecticut.

Dr. Sonick shared powerful lessons on hospitality, gratitude, and building a team that makes every patient feel welcomed, valued, and cared for. His message reminded us that exceptional patient care begins with the way we treat people—and each other.

A Harvard Medical School graduate who completed his ENT residency at UCLA and sleep surgery fellowship at Stanford, Dr. Zaghi brings extensive expertise in tongue-tie, nasal obstruction, mouth breathing, snoring, and obstructive sleep apnea. His multidisciplinary approach connects breathing, sleep, and oral function—topics with meaningful implications for dental care.

Welcome to Omaha, Dr. Michael Sonick! 🎉

We are incredibly excited for an Exponential Day today with the Metro West team and more than 120 colleagues from our partner practices and their team members. We are completely SOLD OUT, and we’re looking forward to an amazing day of learning, connection, and growth together!

We are also honored to welcome Katherine from Strategic Coach in Toronto, bringing insights inspired by Dan Sullivan and the Strategic Coach community.

Today’s conversations will explore freedom, delegation, the self-managing practice, and hospitality—and, most importantly, how we can create greater value and consistently exceptional experiences for both our patients and our teams.

One concept from Dr. Sonick that I especially love is that a dental practice is like a Broadway show. There is a “front stage” that our patients experience and a “backstage” where our team, systems, preparation, and culture make that experience possible. Excellence comes from creating an amazing and consistent experience on both sides of the curtain.

So many great concepts and conversations ahead today. We are excited to learn together, challenge the way we think, and bring new ideas back to our practices.

Another great evening of interdisciplinary learning and collaboration at our Spear Study Club meeting!

We are excited to announce that our study club is evolving from the Metro West Spear Study Club to the Metro West ImageDent Spear Study Club, reflecting our continued commitment to comprehensive, interdisciplinary patient care.

We are also very pleased to welcome Dr. Kadyan as Co-Leader of our Spear Study Club! Congratulations, Dr. Kadyan, on this well-deserved role. We are excited to have your expertise and leadership as we continue to grow together.

Our goal is to bring dentists and specialists together through interdisciplinary education, collaborative treatment planning, and meaningful professional relationships—ultimately improving the comprehensive care we provide to patients throughout our community.

We are incredibly excited to announce that our September 18 Metro West Seminars all-day program in Omaha is officially SOLD OUT!

120 seats. 120 dentists and dental professionals. One incredible day of learning, leadership, and growth.

Thank you to everyone who registered and demonstrated such an amazing desire to become not only a better dentist, but also a better entrepreneur, business leader, team member, and person.

We are honored to welcome Dr. Michael Sonick, who is traveling from Connecticut to Omaha to share the philosophy behind his book, Treating People, Not Patients.

Dr. Sonick’s message goes far beyond clinical dentistry. Great dentistry begins with understanding the person sitting in the chair—building trust, creating meaningful relationships, communicating with empathy, and developing a practice culture in which patients and team members genuinely feel cared for.

We are also thrilled to welcome Kathereen from Strategic Coach in Toronto, who works closely with Dan Sullivan. Strategic Coach has had a tremendous influence on how we think about entrepreneurship and leadership: focusing on our unique abilities, surrounding ourselves with great people, creating greater freedom, and continually working toward a bigger future.

Metro West Orthodontics & Periodontics Spear Study Club — What a Fantastic Weekend in Scottsdale!

What an incredible two days of learning, friendship, and professional growth at Spear Education in Scottsdale, Arizona!

Dr. Miyamoto and members of our Metro West Spear Study Club traveled together to Scottsdale for an intensive two-day seminar on the Principles of Occlusion, taught by none other than Dr. Frank Spear.

Spear Education is one of the premier destinations for advanced dental education, bringing dentists together to elevate their clinical skills, interdisciplinary thinking, and ultimately the quality of care they provide to their patients.

And having the opportunity to learn occlusion directly from Dr. Frank Spear was truly special.

Dr. Spear is one of dentistry’s most respected clinicians and educators, with decades of experience teaching comprehensive and interdisciplinary dentistry. His ability to take a complex subject like occlusion and explain it through clinical experience, philosophy, and real-world cases makes learning incredibly engaging and practical.

We were especially excited to see Dr. Spear back in the classroom teaching this important subject. Listening to his stories, clinical experiences, and philosophy behind managing occlusion reminded us why learning directly from great mentors is so valuable.

Of course, education is only part of what makes a Study Club special!

Friday evening, our group enjoyed a wonderful dinner together at a Japanese seafood restaurant near Spear Education. Great education, great food, and great conversations with colleagues who are committed to becoming better clinicians—it doesn’t get much better than that!

And yes, we were fortunate enough to get a group photo with Dr. Frank Spear! 📸

A huge thank you to all of our Metro West Spear Study Club members for investing your time and energy into continuing education and making this group such a great community.

Our Study Club continues to grow, and we currently have three spots available this year.

Dr. Keisuke Nakazato is spending six months in Omaha, studying English and experiencing life in the United States. One of facorare parts of his time here has been something very simple: almost every week, we get together for dinner—or sometimes just ice cream. 🍦

We talk about dentistry, education, leadership, relationships, opportunities, failures, goals, and how to design the kind of life you truly want to live.

Many of these conversations are influenced by concepts Dr M has learned through Dan Sullivan and Strategic Coach: continuing to create a bigger future, focusing on your unique abilities, surrounding yourself with the right people, and understanding that success should create greater freedom and happiness—not simply more work.

We believe these weekly dinners and ice cream conversations can sometimes teach things that cannot be learned from a textbook or continuing education course. They are helping Dr. Nakazato think about not only what kind of dentist he wants to become, but what kind of life he wants to create.

For us, this is also one of the most enjoyable parts of mentorship. Having a young dentist travel all the way to Omaha and being able to spend time together each week, sharing ideas, experiences, and philosophies, is incredibly rewarding.

Keisuke, good luck with everything ahead of you. Keep learning, keep challenging yourself, and keep creating your bigger future.

🔬 Exciting New Research Collaboration at Metro West!

We are excited to announce the launch of a new project in collaboration with Perio Protect / PerioSciences, exploring an innovative oral-care approach for patients affected by chronic inflammatory oral conditions associated with autoimmune diseases, including oral lichen planus.

Chronic inflammation of the gingiva and oral tissues can be challenging to manage and can significantly affect a patient's comfort and quality of life. Through this project, we will evaluate a novel mouthwash and its potential role as an adjunctive approach to supporting oral health in these patients.

We are also excited to have a third-year Creighton University pre-dental student, joining our team and helping move this project forward. Providing students with opportunities to participate in clinical research and innovation is an important part of our commitment to developing the next generation of dental professionals.

At Metro West Orthodontics & Periodontics, we believe that clinical practice, education, and research can work together to bring meaningful new solutions to our patients and the Omaha community.

We are excited to see where this collaboration leads.
