It was a pleasure to welcome Dr. Jason B. Untrauer, DDS, MD, FACS, Associate Professor in the Division of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, to Metro West Orthodontics & Periodontics today!

We truly value the power of interdisciplinary collaboration. Bringing together periodontists, orthodontists, oral & maxillofacial radiologists, and oral & maxillofacial surgeons allows us to approach airway care from multiple perspectives and provide comprehensive, patient-centered treatment for our patients.

Metro West Orthodontics & Periodontics is incredibly fortunate and grateful to welcome Skylar, our talented dental hygienist and clinical research coordinator, to our team!

Skylar brings tremendous passion for evidence-based dentistry, compassionate periodontal care, and clinical excellence. Her clinical skills, attention to detail, and commitment to helping our patients achieve lifelong oral health make her an exciting addition to the Metro West family.

What makes Skylar’s role especially unique is that her contribution extends beyond patient care. In addition to serving our patients as a clinical dental hygienist, she also works as a Clinical Research Coordinator with the Metro West Clinical Research Center.

Through our Practice-Based Research Network, Skylar helps coordinate clinical research in collaboration with respected periodontal and dental practices across the United States. This important work allows us to connect scientific research with everyday clinical practice—with the ultimate goal of continually improving the care we provide to our patients.

🎉 Celebrating Our 10th Annual Metro West Growth Conference! 🎉

This year marked a very special milestone for Metro West Orthodontics & Periodontics—our 10th Annual Growth Conference!

Ten years ago, we created the Growth Conference with a simple but important purpose: to intentionally step away from our daily routines and invest in our people, our teamwork, and our culture.

Each year, this conference gives us an opportunity to grow together—to strengthen how we communicate, how we support one another, and how we can continually elevate the experience we provide for our patients, referring partners, colleagues, and everyone we have the privilege of serving.

This year, we were fortunate to welcome Christina from Dardis Communications, an organization dedicated to helping service organizations grow by strengthening communication, leadership, professionalism, and the overall customer experience.

Christina led a fantastic and highly interactive workshop for our entire Metro West team focused on delivering an exceptional customer experience—especially during the critical moments that can define a patient’s perception of our practice.

We explored how to communicate effectively, navigate challenging situations with confidence and empathy, and turn difficult moments into opportunities to strengthen relationships and build trust. It was a wonderful reminder that exceptional patient care is not only about the clinical treatment we provide—it is also about how we make people feel at every interaction and every touchpoint of their journey with us.

After a full day of learning, reflecting, and growing together, we finished our Growth Conference with a wonderful team dinner. It was a great opportunity to enjoy one another’s company, strengthen our relationships, and celebrate the incredible people who make Metro West what it is today.

I am incredibly grateful for every member of the Metro West Orthodontics & Periodontics team. Your dedication to our patients, your commitment to one another, and your willingness to continually learn and improve are what allow our organization to grow and become better every year.

Office Assistant (Career Path to Dental Assistant)

Position Summary
Metro West Orthodontics & Periodontics is seeking a motivated, positive, and detail-oriented full-time Office Assistantto join our growing team. This position is designed for individuals who are interested in building a long-term career in dentistry. No previous dental experience is required.
This is an entry-level position that provides comprehensive cross-training in both clinical and administrative responsibilities. After successfully completing approximately six months as an Office Assistant, qualified team members may transition into a Dental Assistant career pathway, including company-sponsored dental assistant education.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys helping people, is eager to learn, and wants to grow within a high-quality specialty dental practice.
Schedule
• Full-time (40 hours per week)
• Monday through Thursday
• Full benefits package
Primary Responsibilities

Monday & Thursday – Clinical Support
• Prepare and organize treatment rooms for patient care
• Perform instrument cleaning, sterilization, and infection control procedures
• Maintain and organize the sterilization center
• Assist chairside dental assistants during orthodontic and periodontal procedures
• Stock operatories and treatment areas
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional clinical environment
• Assist with patient flow throughout the office
• Perform general office cleaning and maintain cleanliness of clinical areas

Tuesday & Wednesday – Administrative Support
• Welcome and greet patients with exceptional customer service
• Answer incoming phone calls professionally
• Assist with patient check-in and check-out
• Support front desk administrative duties
• Schedule appointments and assist with patient communication
• Help maintain accurate patient records
• Assist with general administrative projects as assigned
Marketing & Practice Growth Support
• Assist with social media content creation
• Help capture photos and videos for educational and marketing purposes
• Support online reputation management by encouraging satisfied patients to leave Google reviews
• Assist with community outreach and practice marketing projects
• Support referral relationship initiatives as requested
Qualifications
No prior dental assisting experience is required.
We are looking for someone who is:
• Friendly, positive, and professional
• Highly dependable and punctual
• Detail-oriented and organized
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
• Willing to learn new skills
• A strong team player
• Passionate about helping patients
• Interested in pursuing a long-term career in dentistry
Career Development Opportunity
Metro West Orthodontics & Periodontics is committed to investing in the professional growth of our team members.
After approximately six months of successful employment as an Office Assistant, eligible employees may qualify for our Dental Assistant Career Development Program, which includes:
• Tuition assistance for an approved Dental Assistant School
• Structured clinical training and mentorship
• Hands-on chairside experience
• Professional coaching and career development
Tuition Assistance Program
Qualified employees may receive full tuition reimbursement for Dental Assistant School under the following conditions:
• Successful completion of approximately six months of employment as an Office Assistant
• Acceptance into an approved Dental Assistant program
• Satisfactory job performance and attendance
• Agreement to remain employed at Metro West Orthodontics & Periodontics for a minimum of one year after graduation from the Dental Assistant program
Additional program terms and conditions will be provided at the time of enrollment.
Future Career Path
Following successful completion of Dental Assistant School and all training requirements, employees may transition into a full-time Dental Assistant position within Metro West Orthodontics & Periodontics, with expanded clinical responsibilities, increased compensation, and additional opportunities for professional growth.
