Shervin Haji Aghapour is a 25 year old Iranian singer-songwriter born in Babol. He began posting covers to his social media in late 2018. The atrocities of Iran’s state and Mahsa Amini’s heart wrenching death inspired Shervin to write and perform a song called, “Baraye”. This song became the theme song of the revolution because it captured all the pain, struggle, and hope within Iranian’s hearts. This weekend, “Baraye” has made it to the Grammys. For us, it’s not just a nomination or a song. It’s a representation and recognition of the fight our youth has been fighting for the past 140 days (44 years).
