If you're going to have cosmetic dentistry done, how do you know who to trust?

Cosmetic dentistry is not a specialty, and these days plenty of dentists call themselves cosmetic dentists online. Dr. David Hornbrook walks through what he would look for.

Is the dentist an accredited fellow of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, a strict process evaluated by peers? Can they show you photos of their own patients rather than stock images? And remember, a big following does not equal excellent dentistry.

If you're considering a smile makeover in La Mesa, we're happy to talk through your questions.

Some of the best moments happen before the final smile is even in place.

Dr. Hornbrook explains that provisionals are often more of a reveal than the finals. When a patient who has had gaps or other concerns looks in the mirror and sees the change for the first time, everyone in the room feels it.

Those moments are why the team at Hornbrook Center for Dentistry in La Mesa loves what they do.

Dr. Hornbrook on the moment his work changed.

In the early '90s, he started doing more of what he loved. Instead of placing amalgam fillings, he focused on metal free crowns. It was a different experience for patients, and they were thankful for it.

That idea still shapes the care at Hornbrook Center for Dentistry in La Mesa. When your dentist loves the work, you feel it in the results.

You are in exceptional hands.

You may make time for exercise and healthy meals. Your gums deserve attention, too.

In this lecture, Dr. David Hornbrook references NIH research while discussing the connection between oral health and systemic diseases. He describes periodontitis as a potential source of infection and a factor considered in chronic disease risk. That discussion is about connections, not proof that gum disease causes every chronic condition.

If you're considering care with Dr. David Hornbrook or Dr. Laura Souza, you're welcome to ask how gum health fits into your dental treatment plan.

Confidence can change more than your smile—it can change the way you walk into a room.

After restoring his smile, this patient told Dr. Hornbrook it was one of the best marketing decisions he had ever made. Feeling comfortable speaking with clients helped him show up with greater confidence when presenting high-value proposals.

A thoughtfully designed smile should still feel like you—just more confident.

A smile consultation here starts with a 3D scan, not a mouthful of impression material. Dr. David Hornbrook has spent his career refining what natural, lasting cosmetic dentistry looks like. For certain smile transformations, patients even go home with a professionally photographed Smile Portraits keepsake. It is not just a new scan. It is a result you are proud to keep.

If you have been curious what cosmetic dentistry could do for your smile, this is where to start.
