Case #10 — 5 mm Horizontal Bone Augmentation
This patient's jaw measured just 2–3 mm wide at the implant site. A standard implant requires 6–7 mm minimum. Without bone rebuilding, an implant was simply not possible.
Dr. Mechev used 100% autogenous bone — harvested from the patient's own jaw — to add 5 mm of horizontal width to the deficient ridge. Computer-guided planning. CBCT-mapped measurements. Zero synthetic material.
The ridge went from too narrow to implant-ready.
This is Case #10 in Dr. Mechev's documented bone augmentation series at La Mesa Dental Center.

Case #9 | Vertical Bone Augmentation for Dental Implants — San Diego

When there isn’t enough bone, we build it. 🔬

This patient came to us with insufficient vertical bone height — meaning a dental implant placed without treatment would have been left exposed and unsupported. That’s not a result we accept.

Dr. Cvetan Mechev at La Mesa Dental Center performed a 6mm vertical bone grafting augmentation using our computer-guided SafeCut technique — one of the most precise and minimally invasive approaches available today.

Receding gums? This can happen sooner than you think.

This patient came to La Mesa Dental Center with 5 mm of gum recession and exposed root surface, causing sensitivity and an uneven gum line.

Instead of the traditional gum graft that requires taking tissue from the roof of the mouth, Dr. Cvetan Mechev, DDS used a minimally invasive technique with Alloderm.

✔ No palate tissue harvesting
✔ Less discomfort
✔ Faster healing
✔ Natural looking gum restoration

📸 The photo shows the result 6 months after treatment.

Healthy, thicker gums and significant root coverage — all done with a modern minimally invasive approach.

Many people don’t realize that gum recession can often be treated comfortably and predictably with today’s techniques.

If you notice:
• Receding gums
• Tooth sensitivity
• Teeth looking longer

…it may be time for a consultation.

Horizontal Bone Grafting Success – Case #8 at La Mesa Dental Center

At La Mesa Dental Center, Dr. Mechev continues to deliver advanced implant-focused dentistry using the most modern regenerative techniques. In Case #8, our San Diego dental implant specialist successfully performed a horizontal bone grafting procedure to rebuild insufficient jawbone and create a stable foundation for future dental implants.

Case Overview

The patient presented with:
• Severely resorbed jawbone
• Only 2.5 mm of ridge width, making dental implant placement impossible

Using 100% autogenous bone grafting (the gold standard in bone regeneration), Dr. Mechev expanded the ridge from 2.5 mm to 7 mm, creating the necessary bone volume for long-term implant stability.

Why This Matters

Horizontal bone loss is one of the most common reasons patients are told they’re “not candidates” for implants. Dr. Mechev’s expertise in regenerative dentistry allows patients to regain:
• Proper bone width
• Improved facial structure support
• A strong foundation for future implants
• A predictable path to restoring full function and aesthetics

Advanced Autogenous Bone Augmentation

This case was completed using 100% the patient’s own bone, providing:
• Exceptional biocompatibility
• Faster integration
• Reduced risk of rejection
• Strong, dense regenerated bone

Dental Implants After Bone Grafting

With the ridge now successfully augmented to 7 mm, the area is ready for dental implant placement once healing is complete.
