Case #10 — 5 mm Horizontal Bone Augmentation
This patient's jaw measured just 2–3 mm wide at the implant site. A standard implant requires 6–7 mm minimum. Without bone rebuilding, an implant was simply not possible.
Dr. Mechev used 100% autogenous bone — harvested from the patient's own jaw — to add 5 mm of horizontal width to the deficient ridge. Computer-guided planning. CBCT-mapped measurements. Zero synthetic material.
The ridge went from too narrow to implant-ready.

This patient came to La Mesa Dental Center with 5 mm of gum recession and exposed root surface, causing sensitivity and an uneven gum line.

Instead of the traditional gum graft that requires taking tissue from the roof of the mouth, Dr. Cvetan Mechev, DDS used a minimally invasive technique with Alloderm.

In Case #8, our San Diego dental implant specialist successfully performed a horizontal bone grafting procedure to rebuild insufficient jawbone and create a stable foundation for future dental implants.

Case Overview

The patient presented with:
• Severely resorbed jawbone
• Only 2.5 mm of ridge width, making dental implant placement impossible

Using 100% autogenous bone grafting (the gold standard in bone regeneration), Dr. Mechev expanded the ridge from 2.5 mm to 7 mm, creating the necessary bone volume for long-term implant stability.
