At True Function Laboratory, we are constantly working to improve our service. We understand that a great dental laboratory has to be able to deliver more than just good workmanship. We have streamlined our production to reduce turnaround times. Most TMJ appliances and Night Guards are finished within 3 days in the laboratory. Most oral devices for OSA are completed in 5 days or less. Orthodontic appliances are finished in about 3 days. This quick turnaround allows you to help more patients sooner, and to enjoy the peace of mind that comes from working with our lab.

Everyone hates when a device needs to be remade. We understand it's frustrating, here's how to avoid remakes:

1. Ensure a complete scan or impression
2. Confirm the bite registration is for that case and what your preferred starting position is.
3. Confirm vertical clearance along with device selection.
4. Leave detailed notes for the lab techs.
5. Complete all fields on the lab slip.

Protect chair time, keep treatment moving, and make the process easier on your team and your patient.

Day Guard or Night Guard?

It's not a question of which one protects the teeth.
Both devices protect.
The bigger difference lies in how each is designed to support the patient’s actual pattern of bruxism.

Night Guard
The traditional full-coverage option, designed with smooth occlusion and shallow anterior guidance or cuspid rise. A familiar fit when grinding happens primarily at night or during sleep.

Day Guard

Tell your patients never to run a device under hot water.

It may seem small, but it may distort the device.

Do:
● Rinse with cool or lukewarm water
● Clean gently with non-abrasive products
● Store the device in a clean, dry case
● Follow care instructions for the specific material

Don’t:
● Use hot water
● Put it in the dishwasher
● Leave it in a hot car
● Assume every material responds to heat the same way

Milled Acrylic won’t yellow, which helps when long-term appearance matters.

Oral devices can distort under heat, so a little extra care can prevent avoidable issues.

Helpful reminders like this protect the device, support better outcomes, and make it easier for patients to stay consistent.
