True Function

True Function Welcome to True Function. Specializing in Sleep Apnea and TMJ devices, ready to ship within 7 business days. And to this day, this continues to be our focus.

True Function Laboratory was founded with the concept of service, quality and predictability. True Function’s philosophy is simple; to save you time and effort with every case. We realize that if we can achieve this, then we can develop a great working relationship with dental offices. We strongly believe that dental clinicians and staff should not have to spend a long time to adjust and deliver o

ral devices. We understand that your chair time is highly valuable and that your reputation is on the line with every patient. Our duty is to do our job as proficiently as possible so that you can care for your patient without having to compromise the efficacy of the treatment you provide. At True Function Laboratory, we are constantly working to improve our service. We understand that a great dental laboratory has to be able to deliver more than just good workmanship. We have streamlined our production to reduce turnaround times. Most TMJ appliances and Night Guards are finished within 3 days in the laboratory. Most oral devices for OSA are completed in 5 days or less. Orthodontic appliances are finished in about 3 days. This quick turnaround allows you to help more patients sooner, and to enjoy the peace of mind that comes from working with our lab.

TrueSleep gives offices options for oral sleep device cases without making the workflow feel complicated.

Two of the core choices in the TrueSleep lineup are TrueHerbst and TrueDorsal.

TrueHerbst is designed for providers who want strength, lateral movement, and a Medicare PDAC E0486-approved option. Material options include milled acrylic and True Comfort.

TrueDorsal is designed for easy delivery and predictable retention, and it has FDA 510(k) clearance. Material options include milled acrylic, acetal, and True Comfort.

The point is not to force every patient into the same design.

The point is to give your office clear options based on the case, the records, the provider’s goals, and the patient’s tolerance.

When the right device is matched to patient needs, the delivery appointment goes more smoothly. When the materials fit the case, the provider can present with more confidence.

TrueSleep was built to help offices deliver oral sleep cases with clarity, quality, and support.

What causes most remakes and delays?

Usually, it's fabrication; it's workflow.

In many cases, the friction starts before the device ever reaches delivery day.

Incomplete records can delay the case.
Unclear notes can leave too much open to interpretation.
Not double checking can let small issues turn into bigger ones.
And rushing at the delivery appointment can sometimes cause for something to be missed.

These breakdowns are common, but they are also preventable.

When the workflow is clearer from the start, case delivery becomes smoother, communication gets easier, and the entire process feels more predictable for the team.

A clearer workflow creates smoother case delivery.

Not every protective case is just a night guard.

At True Function, Night Guard and Day Guard are different solutions.

Night Guard
Classic full coverage with multiple design options.

Day Guard
Usually lower arch, posterior coverage, no incisal coverage, and often preferred for daytime wear.

That distinction matters.

A standard guard case is not the same as a splint case.

And material matters too:

Milled Acrylic for rigid durability
Milled Acetal for a compact durable option
True Comfort when softer feel matters
Thermoplastic when easy seating matters

Built with digital workflow and 7-business-day production.

What matters most to you in guard selection: material, bulk, arch choice, or adjustment time?

Consistent quality and reliable turnaround matter because they shape the entire case experience from start to delivery.

When records are accurate, communication is strong, and the workflow is handled well from the beginning, the result is a smoother process, a more predictable fit, and a better experience for the provider and patient alike.

We are truly grateful for the trust from practices like Dr. Neal Shah and for feedback like this. It means a great deal to our team to know that the work we put in is making a difference in the day-to-day experience of the practices we serve.

We take pride in producing high-quality devices and in supporting our clients with dependable turnaround and strong communication throughout the process.

Thank you, Dr. Shah, for your trust, your partnership, and your kind words.

When a sleep device disengages overnight, feels unreliable, or creates too much back-and-forth at delivery, the case gets harder to manage.

That is where TrueHerbst stands out.

It is designed for cases where staying engaged, dependable fit, and long-term durability all matter.

Providers choose it when they want a sleep device that allows normal mouth opening and closing, uses solid, PMMA for a reliable fit, and stays engaged throughout use.

Material options include:
— Milled Acrylic
— True Comfort

If retention and durability are part of the challenge, TrueHerbst is worth considering.

Body position changes more than people think during sleep.

When patients are asleep on their back, the mouth may open, the jaw can drop back, and that rotation can move the base of the tongue farther back, blocking the airway.

That is part of what makes sleeping position and mandibular retrusion such an important conversation in sleep.

Healthy subjects may show a smaller range of mouth opening. Patients with obstructive sleep apnea often show much more opening, especially when sleeping on their back.

It is a good reminder that sleep is not just about one measurement or one device.

Position, anatomy, jaw posture, airway behavior, and case planning all matter.

When providers understand those details, they can make more thoughtful decisions about records, design, and device selection.

If your delivery appointments keep running long, the problem usually isn't the device. It's what happened before it arrived.

Successful practices don't fit splint and sleep cases into their day, they separate this type of treatment from other types of dentistry. It may feel like it costs you more time, but it will create a better experience for your staff and patients.

Here's the difference...

Random slots create:
● Rushed records
● Unclear notes
● Longer deliveries
● More remakes

Dedicated time creates:
● Complete records
● Clear communication
● Predictable deliveries
● Smoother outcomes

A splint or sleep case is not just another restorative slot. It has its own record needs, its own lab communication, and its own delivery cadence.

When the workflow matches the case type, everything downstream gets easier — for the team, for the lab, and for the patient.

The goal isn't more hours. It's a simpler, more repeatable system.
