True Function Laboratory was founded with the concept of service, quality and predictability. True Function’s philosophy is simple; to save you time and effort with every case. We realize that if we can achieve this, then we can develop a great working relationship with dental offices. We strongly believe that dental clinicians and staff should not have to spend a long time to adjust and deliver oral devices. We understand that your chair time is highly valuable and that your reputation is on the line with every patient. Our duty is to do our job as proficiently as possible so that you can care for your patient without having to compromise the efficacy of the treatment you provide. At True Function Laboratory, we are constantly working to improve our service. We understand that a great dental laboratory has to be able to deliver more than just good workmanship. We have streamlined our production to reduce turnaround times. Most TMJ appliances and Night Guards are finished within 3 days in the laboratory. Most oral devices for OSA are completed in 5 days or less. Orthodontic appliances are finished in about 3 days. This quick turnaround allows you to help more patients sooner, and to enjoy the peace of mind that comes from working with our lab.

True Comfort offers another material option when patient comfort is a priority. Its dual-laminate construction pairs a hard outer shell with a soft inner surface for easier delivery and comfortable daily wear.

That gives clinicians a few practical advantages:
• Bonds to acrylic
• Supports occlusal relines
• Offers a clear finish

A few considerations to keep in mind:
• Available in clear only
• Cannot be internally relined
• Can distort when exposed to heat

For patients who find a fully rigid device uncomfortable, that hard-soft construction may be worth considering as part of the case plan.

For splint cases, device selection starts with the treatment position, design preference, and clinical workflow.

True Splints are patient-matched devices with design options for clinician-directed occlusal management.

Here’s the lineup.

Day devices
• Day Positioned Orthotic (MORA): Posterior coverage with no incisal coverage. Options include deep or light indexing and pivot.
• Full Coverage Day: Full-coverage design with incisal coverage, plus options such as anterior guidance and cuspid rise.
• Compact Day: About 50% less bulk than the standard day device for cases where a lower-profile design makes sense.
• Anti-Clenching: A small discluder designed to allow contact only of the central lower teeth during day or night wear.

Night devices
• Anterior Deprogrammer: Full-arch design with a discluding element and no posterior contact.
• MIRA: Upper and lower full-arch design with canine-area contact that functions as a deprogrammer.
• Farrar: Repositioning ramp with anterior-only contact in the clinician-established treatment position.
• Night with Ramp: Repositioning ramp with full occlusal contact of the opposing dentition.
• Flat Plane Stabilization Splint: Full-coverage design with full occlusal contact and smooth occlusal surfaces for broad occlusal management needs.

Material options vary by device and include Traditional Acrylic, Milled Acrylic, Milled Acetal, Thermoplastic, and True Comfort.

Nasal Breathing Awareness Month is a good time to bring one question into the oral appliance therapy conversation:

Can the patient breathe comfortably through the nose at night?

If the answer is no, that can affect more than comfort. Mouth breathing, congestion, dry mouth, and poor sleep quality can shape how a patient presents and how therapy is tolerated.

For providers, the takeaway is simple: ask earlier, document what you see, and widen the conversation when nasal function may be part of the picture.
