DR. SHIN JOSEPH KIM

Please welcome the newest member of our team at Kissimmee Oral Surgery!

Dr. Kim is a highly skilled oral and maxillofacial surgeon known for his exceptional expertise and distinguished career. Originally from Southern California, he began his academic journey at UCLA, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. Pursuing his passion for dentistry, he attended the New York College of Dentistry, graduating with honors and obtaining his Doctorate of Dental Surgery. Dr. Kim was selected for the US Navy’s Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP), which fully supported his dental education. He served as a general dentist in the Navy for several years before undergoing specialized training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. Throughout his tenure in the US Navy, Dr. Kim served Navy Sailors and Marines at various stations and on ships, including a deployment with the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69), a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier.
Dr. Kim is a member of the Board-Certified American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and actively participates in professional organizations such as the American Dental Association and the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

We have installed a High-efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) Filtration system in all our operating rooms and waiting areas.

Air purifiers with HEPA filtration efficiently capture particles the size of (and far smaller than) the virus that causes COVID-19. The virus that causes COVID-19 is approximately 0.125 micron (125 nanometers) in diameter. It falls squarely within the particle-size range that HEPA filters capture with extraordinary efficiency: 0.01 micron (10 nanometers) and above. A NASA study concluded: HEPA filters are actually most efficient—almost 100 percent at 0.01 micron—at capturing ultrafine particles below the 0.3-micron HEPA test standard.
With that being said, CDC guidelines and social distancing is still the best way to prevent contagion.
