It can be easy to believe that brushing harder would make your teeth cleaner, but that's just not the case. In fact, brushing too hard can damage the gum tissue and cause your gums to recede.

How do you know if you're brushing too hard? If the bristles of your toothbrush are splayed out, that's a good sign that you're using too much pressure while brushing. Use less pressure or even consider switching to an electric toothbrush and let it do the work for you!
