I came to Peru to get away from work. Then I started looking at people’s teeth.
In the 1930s, a dentist named Weston A. Price traveled the world studying communities untouched by modern food. What he found in the Andes stuck with me: broad, healthy faces. Straight teeth. Almost no decay — without a single toothbrush or dentist in sight.
Their secret wasn’t a product. It was a way of life. Nutrient-dense ancestral food. Sunlight that set their internal clocks. A rhythm of living that modern life has quietly stripped away.
We didn’t just lose good teeth. We lost the conditions that grow them.
The good news? A lot of it is reclaimable. Real food. Morning light. Honoring the body’s natural rhythms. The mouth is where so much of it shows up first — which is exactly why I can’t stop looking.
Ancestral wisdom, lost and worth reclaiming. 🌺
