7 years of being a Dad. 10 years of being a Dentist. And here are 10 uncomfortable truths I wish every patient knew: š¦·
1. If your gums bleed when you floss, thatās not a reason to stop flossing. Itās a reason to pay more attention to your gum health.
2. If your tooth hurts, donāt wait for the pain to disappear. Dental problems rarely fix themselves.
3. Brushing harder doesnāt mean brushing better. Your gums and enamel need gentle, consistent care.
4. Flossing once in a while doesnāt count. Your toothbrush canāt reach every surface of your teeth.
5. You can have a cavity without feeling any pain. Thatās why regular dental exams matter.
6. A beautiful smile doesnāt always mean a healthy smile. Whatās happening beneath the surface matters too.
7. Mouthwash isnāt a replacement for brushing and flossing. Itās an addition to your routine - not a shortcut.
8. Your diet affects your teeth more than you think. Itās not just candy; frequent sugar and acidic drinks can take a toll on your enamel.
9. Dental anxiety is nothing to be embarrassed about. Tell your dentist. The more we know, the better we can make your experience.
10. Skipping your dental visits because āeverything feels fineā doesnāt guarantee that everything is fine. Prevention is always easier than waiting for a problem to become an emergency.
At Rewards Dental, our goal isnāt just to treat your teeth - itās to help you understand them. š
