He attended Concord College in Athens, WV on a football scholarship. After leaving Concord College, he attended West Virginia University School of Dentistry in Morgantown where he received the International College of Dentists award. Dr. Tyree is married to Cheryl Aliff. They have 2 daughters, Traci and Tanya and four grandchildren

He has served as president of the Huntington Dental Society, the WVU Dental School Board of Directors, and currently serves on the state Peer Review Committee.
