Coffee, tea, red wine, to***co, and other pigmented foods can leave stains on the surface of your teeth over time, even if you brush and floss consistently. In-office whitening uses controlled, professional-strength formulas to safely break down these deep stains and lighten enamel. If you're interested in whitening your teeth, ask Dr. Pechous about the right option for you.

This question seems to bubble up a lot.
Seltzer isn't necessarily bad for your teeth, but it’s also not as harmless as plain water. The carbonation makes it slightly acidic, which can slowly weaken enamel if you sip it throughout the day.

That doesn’t mean you need to stop drinking it. It just means a few simple habits can help protect your smile. Try enjoying seltzer with meals instead of continuously sipping, use a straw when you can, and follow it with plain water to help neutralize the acidity. It’s also best to wait about 20–30 minutes before brushing, since enamel can be softer right after exposure to acids.

Your toothbrush can’t reach everywhere, but a water flosser can. A water flosser uses a pressurized stream of water to remove food particles, plaque, and bacteria from between teeth and along the gumline. It is less likely to cause irritation or bleeding compared to string floss, making it a good choice for people with sensitive gums or gingivitis. If you're wondering which water flosser is right for you, ask Dr. Pechous for a recommendation!

Missing teeth can have a domino effect on your health. When even one tooth is lost, the surrounding teeth can shift, your bite alignment can change, and bone loss in the jaw may begin. Over time, this can affect not only your smile but also your ability to chew, speak, and maintain proper oral health.

Dental implants provide a stable, long-term solution by replacing the root and crown of a missing tooth. They help preserve bone, protect surrounding teeth, and restore full function. If you're missing one or more teeth, come visit us at Charles E. Pechous DDS SC: (262) 694-2932
