Headaches aren't always just headaches.

Many of our patients come to us after trying everything—new pillows, medications, mouthguards, massage, physical therapy, and countless appointments—yet the headaches continue.

What many people don't realize is that tongue posture, mouth breathing, clenching, poor oral rest posture, muscle tension, and dysfunctional breathing patterns can all contribute to tension headaches and migraines.

Through myofunctional therapy, we work to improve breathing, oral function, muscle balance, and tongue posture. While every patient is different, one of the most common improvements we hear is:

"My headaches are so much better."

"I don't remember my last headache!"

If headaches or migraines are impacting your daily life and you've tried everything else, it may be time to look at the muscles, function, and breathing patterns that are often overlooked.

The answer may not be where you've been looking.

❓ Did you know your tongue has a natural resting place ❓

The entire tongue should rest gently against the roof of the mouth, with the tip just behind the front teeth. This position helps support proper breathing, swallowing, jaw development, and even facial growth.

When the tongue rests low in the mouth, we may see:
👅 Mouth breathing
😴 Poor sleep or snoring
😬 Teeth crowding or orthodontic relapse
💥 Clenching, grinding, or jaw tension
🤕 Headaches and neck pain
👄 Open mouth posture or lip incompetence
🦷 Improper swallowing patterns

The tongue is not just for talking and eating—it is a powerful muscle that influences how we breathe, sleep, grow, and function.

If the tongue doesn't naturally rest in its "home," the body often compensates in other ways.

At Kearney Myofunctional Therapy, we help patients identify the root cause and retrain proper oral function so the tongue can do what it was designed to do.

Imagine entering 2027 with:
✅ Better sleep
✅ Less pain
✅ Fewer headaches
✅ More energy
✅ Less snoring
..and not because you finally gave up caffeine, bought a fancy pillow, or swore you'd "go to bed earlier." 😅

Many symptoms such as headaches, migraines, grinding, mouth breathing, snoring, nail biting, cheek biting, and neck or shoulder tension can be associated with myofunctional disorders.

Because myofunctional therapy can take several months, now is the perfect time to invest in yourself. Start today, and by the New Year, you may be feeling like a whole new you.

Your future well-rested self will thank you. ❤️

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Google reviews are like little hugs wrapped in gold stars! Small businesses thrive on positive reviews to help others find them and choose them. But reading what our patients have to say goes far beyond marketing and advertising. It reminds us of our purpose and why we do what we do! We are thankful everyday for our patients who shout it from the rooftops, who send gracious texts and ones who silently smile and nod in delight. All are equally as touching and encouraging and we are better because our paths crossed theirs!

Jordan Cochran DDS, PC and Kearney Myofunctional Therapy work as a team to provide each patient with a comfortable and positive experience. Thank you for letting all of us be a part of your journey! ❤️

We have some exciting news!

Kearney Myofunctional Therapy was nominated and named a *Favorite* in Best of Kearney 2026! ❤️

While we may not have taken home the winner title, this truly feels like a win to me. To be nominated, supported, and voted for by our patients, families, friends, and community means more than I can put into words.

KMT started less than 2 years ago with a passion for helping people breathe better, sleep better, grow properly, and live healthier lives. Knowing that our community sees value in what we do and took the time to support us is something I don't take lightly.

Thank you for trusting us with your care, for referring your family and friends, for cheering us on, and for believing in our mission. Being a "Favorite" is a reminder that the work we do matters...and I couldn't be more grateful.

Thank you, Kearney! ❤️

I have the privilege of meeting some truly incredible moms every single day.

Moms who advocate fiercely for their children.
Moms who are searching for answers and refusing to give up.
Moms who want their child to sleep better, breathe better, grow properly, and thrive.
Moms who are exhausted from sleepless nights but still show up with love and determination.
Moms who are carrying their own struggles—headaches, fatigue, stress all while continuing to care for everyone around them.
Moms who have spent countless hours, energy, prayers, and dollars trying to help their child feel better.
Moms who juggle appointments, school, work, sports, therapies, and everyday life while somehow still making their children feel safe and loved.
Moms who wonder if they’re doing enough, when the truth is they are giving everything they have.

We see you.
We appreciate you.
Your love, sacrifice, and persistence matter more than you know.
And even on the hard days—the overwhelming days—you are doing an incredible job. ❤️

To all the moms, grandmas, bonus moms, foster moms, and mother figures who pour so much of themselves into caring for others: Happy Mother’s Day. You are deeply appreciated.
