Katie To Center for Wellness Dentistry Our team of Biological & Cosmetic Specialists are ready to get you a Confident Smile for Healthy Life

Dr. Katie To Center for Wellness Dentistry is a team of doctors, specialists, and dental team members practicing biological and cosmetic dentistry in Katy, TX. Our work lives at the intersection of what your mouth needs and what your body needs, because they were never separate. Biological dentistry means we remove what is harming you (mercury, failed root canals, cavitations) using protocols buil

t to protect your whole system, not just your teeth. Cosmetic dentistry means we rebuild your smile into something that looks, feels, and functions like you. Wellness dentistry is how we refuse to trade one for the other. Our practice is led by Dr. Katie To, the only SMART-certified dentist in Katy, the youngest Master of Biological Dentistry awarded by the IABDM, and the only dentist in the world holding both that title and a Master in Digital Smile Design. She serves as President of the IABDM, the leading professional academy for biological dentistry and medicine, where she helps shape the global standards of the field. She is also the founder of the Wellness Dentist Institute, where she trains dentists worldwide through coaching, online courses, and in-person programs. We are here to serve our patients in living the best life of the season they are in.

Most people come to us thinking about their teeth. What they discover is that we are looking at something much bigger than that. ๐ŸŒฟ

One of the things we routinely screen for here is tongue tie, in both adults and children. A restricted tongue tie is something that often goes undetected for years, but its effects can show up in ways that feel completely unrelated to the mouth. Disrupted sleep, mouth breathing, TMJ discomfort, headaches, and neck and shoulder tension are all things we see connected to this underlying factor more often than most people would expect.

In a biological approach, screening for these things early gives us a much clearer picture of what is actually contributing to your oral and systemic health. It means we are never just looking at the symptom in front of us. We are always asking what else might be connected, and what the mouth is telling us about the whole body. ๐Ÿฆท

If you've ever walked into our office and felt instantly at ease, there's a good chance Dawn had something to do with that. ๐ŸŒฟ She's been part of our team for over 11 years, and she is one of the warmest people you will ever meet in a dental office.

Dawn received her dental assistant certificate from Houston Dental Assistant School, but what she brings to every patient interaction goes well beyond her training. She takes the time to actually get to know you, your story, your goals, and what you need to feel comfortable and cared for. That kind of attention is something you feel the moment you meet her.

When she's not here with us, Dawn is soaking up life with her husband and their 10 year old daughter Caroline. You'll find them at the Houston Zoo, planning the next Disney trip, or hunting down a great new restaurant around town. ๐Ÿฆท

Come say hi at your next visit. We think you're going to love her.

Something most parents never think to check: whether their child is breathing through their nose or their mouth. It seems small, but it makes a surprisingly big difference for their oral health. ๐ŸŒฟ

When kids breathe through their mouth, saliva production drops. And saliva is doing a lot of quiet, important work in there. It neutralizes acids, washes away bacteria, and helps keep enamel strong between meals. Without enough of it, the mouth stays dry and acidic, which is exactly the environment harmful bacteria love most.

One of the tools we use here is a disclosing solution that actually shows us where plaque is sitting and whether it's acidic. It turns the guesswork into something visible, something a parent and child can both see and understand together. That moment of clarity tends to change everything. ๐Ÿฆท

Save this for the next time you're thinking about your little one's oral health habits.

Most patients who come to us have been managing gum disease for years without ever feeling like they are actually getting ahead of it. They are doing everything they are told, coming in for their cleanings, following the home care routine, and still sitting in the same chair hearing the same news every six months. That is frustrating, and we hear it all the time. ๐Ÿค

What most conventional approaches miss is that gum disease is not just a local problem. The inflammation driving it is connected to your immune system, your blood sugar, your heart health, and your body's overall ability to heal.

When we only treat what we can see in the mouth without asking why it keeps coming back, we are missing the most important part of the conversation.

Dr. Rosalie's approach starts with understanding you as a whole person. Your health history, your lifestyle, your body's unique needs. Because the right treatment is never the same for everyone, and you deserve a plan that was actually built around you. ๐ŸŒฟ

Most dental offices hand you a toothbrush on the way out. We hand you a complimentary natural lip balm made by Farmer's Body, a Vermont-based company focused on clean, nourishing ingredients. Raspberry, lemon honey, or mango. ๐Ÿค

Because the details matter here. Your experience from the moment you walk in to the moment you leave is something we think about carefully, and that includes what goes on your lips after your appointment.

This is what it feels like to be a patient at a practice that actually cares about every part of you. ๐ŸŒฟ

You've been to dentist after dentist and still feel like nobody is actually looking at the whole picture. You leave with a cleaning and a "see you in six months" and nothing has actually changed. That's not okay, and it's not how dentistry has to feel.

At our practice, Dr. Jones brings 31 years of experience and the latest technology to every single appointment, treating you as a whole person. We look at your airway, your bite, your inflammation, your whole health story, not just what's happening on the surface.

This is what dentistry looks like when someone actually listens. ๐Ÿค

Not all biofilm behaves the same, and this is something we think every patient deserves to understand. ๐Ÿฆท

Some areas of your mouth are producing more acid than others right now, quietly breaking down enamel and creating the conditions for cavities long before anything shows up on an X-ray. What drives it is usually a combination of things. Frequent sugar exposure, acidic drinks sipped throughout the day, and biofilm that sits undisturbed in the same spots over and over again.

The problem is that most people are doing their best with their home care routine without knowing which areas of their mouth actually need the most attention. Generic advice only goes so far. When we can identify where the high risk biofilm is living, we can give you something so much more useful, a targeted plan built around your specific mouth and your specific habits.

This month we are diving deep into how diet shapes your oral environment and what small daily shifts can genuinely change your long term dental health. Save this post and follow along because this information changes the way you think about your routine. ๐ŸŒฟ

Biological dentists think about teeth completely differently, and these are two things we would never do to our own. ๐ŸŒฟ

Leaving an old mercury filling in without understanding what it's doing to the body is something we take seriously here.

Mercury toxicity is real, measurable, and deserves a real conversation before anyone picks up a handpiece. And walking into any major procedure without checking bloodwork first? Never. Vitamin D, inflammation markers, blood sugar. Your body tells us everything we need to know about how well you're going to heal.

You deserve that same level of care. ๐Ÿค

This is something you won't see at most dental offices. ๐Ÿ“ธ

What our team member is doing here is capturing a full series of intraoral photographs, detailed close up images of your teeth, gums, bite, and oral tissues. These photos give us a bird's eye view of everything happening in your mouth that the naked eye alone simply cannot capture. They become part of your baseline records, help us track changes over time, and allow us to show you exactly what we're seeing so you can make truly informed decisions about your care.

When you can see what's happening in your own mouth, everything changes. That's the kind of transparency we believe every patient deserves. ๐Ÿค

Your toothbrush is doing its best. But it's not getting everything. ๐Ÿค

The spaces between your teeth, along your gumline, and anywhere crowding exists are exactly where biofilm quietly builds up every single day. And when it's not disrupted consistently, it becomes more organized, more resistant, and harder to remove. That's when inflammation starts, and that's when decay follows.

Brushing is essential, but it's just one piece of the puzzle. The right technique, the right tools, and daily consistency are what actually move the needle on your oral health. This month we're breaking down simple ways to level up your biofilm control at home. ๐ŸŒฟ
