Congratulations to Krystal Gutierrez, School Nurse at Royal Oaks School of the Arts, on being named School Nurse of the Year at Cabarrus County Schools' Celebration of Excellence! 🎉👏

Recognized by her peers for her dedication to student health, exceptional nursing care, and unwavering advocacy for students, Krystal exemplifies the impact school nurses have every day.

Her careful assessment and compassionate response to a student's concerning symptoms led to the discovery of a serious underlying medical condition, allowing the student to receive prompt treatment. The family later shared that without Krystal's diligence, the condition may not have been identified until a medical emergency occurred.

Thank you, Krystal, for your commitment to the health, safety, and well-being of our students. We are proud to celebrate this well-deserved recognition!

We were thrilled to partner with our friends at Cabarrus Partnership for Children for a wonderful screening event for NC Pre-K students!

In addition to DIAL-4 assessments, 55 students received dental, hearing, and vision screenings, supporting their health, development, and readiness for success in the classroom.

We also had our WIC, Healthy Living and Behavioral Health departments at the event to provide education to the families as well!

Our Adolescent Health team recently attended the Fact Forward 2026 Summer Institute in Charleston, SC. The team presented on CHA programs supporting youth engagement and stronger adolescent health outcomes across Cabarrus County and Kannapolis City Schools.
