Today we remember , 2001.
We remember the firefighters who climbed those stairs. The police officers who ran toward the chaos. The civilians who stopped to help strangers. The passengers who realized what was happening and chose to fight back.
We remember the phone calls home. The calls to husbands, wives, parents, and children to say, “I love you” one last time.
We remember watching it happen. We remember the silence. We remember crying with people we had never met and feeling completely destroyed by what we were seeing.
And we remember what came after — people showing up for each other, flags hanging from porches, strangers becoming neighbors, and a country that, for a moment, felt a little closer.
Twenty-five years later, we still remember the lives lost, the bravery shown, and the families who have carried that day with them ever since.
We will never forget.
