Hi All,

It’s me, Dr. Harris-Kemp, here to discuss a very private situation publicly. While I wish that I could remain silent, I’ve found that asking for people to understand that I am a woman first and a pediatric dentist second, just isn’t enough. So rather than myself wake up to messages on social media about “Dr. Harris’s office rescheduled my appt…. I need a recommendation for a new dentist”, I’ve decided that you can have my truth and still go find a new dentist if me being a woman-business owner is simply too much for you. So…. Here it is.

I’m a 38 year-old woman who dedicated 10 years of her life to becoming a specialist in dentistry. I spent a couple of years in the marketing and entertainment industry in Los Angeles and then started investing my life into developing dental facilities, dental laboratories, and some other fun businesses. I was laser focused on my career until I met my now husband in 2020.

It wasn’t until then that I began entertaining the idea to have children. We decided as a couple that we wanted to, but…..just not right now. We wanted to grow as a couple first and raise a family second.

Because of my age, we found it best to preserve our offspring by me freezing my eggs. 🥶 🥚

The process is pretty wild. Indescribable. Emotional. Painful. Stressful. Nonetheless, it requires me to be absent from time to time because I’m only able to get a 48 hr notice before the eggs have to be retrieved or some other procedure be completed.

This wouldn’t be an issue if I was using a local clinic but because me and my husband chose to use the the Mayo Clinic Reproductive team in Rochester, Minnesota, I have to take round trip one day flights there and back from time to time.
Exhausting but worth it… right?

I am aware that my personal journey may not align with your schedule, and while it’s temporary, I still want you and your child to feel cared for.

If at any time you are rescheduled in the following months, please know that I’m simply trying to get my precious oocytes “eggs” removed and safely frozen so that one day when we are ready, I can be just like you….. a parent….a mother.
