One of the biggest changes in orthodontics? 🦷✨
Whenever possible, our goal today is to avoid extractions and preserve your natural teeth.
Twenty years ago, if a patient like Anna came into the office with severe crowding, she likely would have been referred for the extraction of all four first premolars before orthodontic treatment even began.
Today, advancements in orthodontics allow us to take a more conservative approach. Our focus is on creating a healthy, stable smile while keeping your natural teeth whenever it’s possible and appropriate.
Using traditional metal braces, a little IPR (interproximal reduction), and plenty of patience, we were able to make room for all of Anna’s teeth without extractions & give her a beautiful, healthy smile just in time for senior year! 🎓😁
Every smile is unique, and while extractions are still the best option in some cases, it’s exciting to see how far orthodontics has come in helping more patients keep their natural teeth.
