If you were up early this morning, you may have caught an incredible sight as SpaceX launched its Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral at 6:33 AM! 🌎🚀
That beautiful, glowing cloud that looked like a giant JELLYFISH floating through the sky 🪼✨ is known as the “Space Jellyfish Effect!”
🪼 But what causes it? Here’s the cool science behind it! 👇
When the rocket reaches high altitudes, its exhaust gases expand into the thin upper atmosphere. Since the launch happened just before sunrise, the rising sun was already shining on the rocket’s exhaust plume while we were still in darkness on the ground. ☀️🌌
The sunlight illuminated the expanding gases, creating that amazing, glowing jellyfish shape with what looked like long tentacles!
🤯 So what looks like something straight out of a science-fiction movie is actually science in action!
How incredible is it that we get to witness something like this right here in Florida?! 🚀🪼✨
