Dental emergencies don’t wait for a convenient time.

Whether it’s a sudden toothache, a chipped tooth, or something that just doesn’t feel right — knowing what to do in the moment can make all the difference.

If you experience:
• A broken or chipped tooth
• Persistent or worsening tooth pain
• Swelling, pressure, or signs of infection
• A knocked-out or loose tooth

Don’t ignore it.

What may seem minor can quickly progress into something more serious if left untreated. Early care can help relieve discomfort, prevent further damage, and in many cases, save the tooth altogether.

In the moment, a few simple steps can help:
Rinse gently with warm water, avoid chewing on the affected side, and use a cold compress if there is swelling. If a tooth has been knocked out, handle it carefully by the top (not the root) and try to keep it in milk until you can be seen.

Most importantly — don’t wait it out.

Dental Assistants Week is here, and we’re celebrating the three women who keep everything running behind the scenes — and right beside the chair.

They’re the calm before procedures, the extra set of hands every doctor depends on, and the friendly faces that make patients feel comfortable from the moment they sit down. Our office, including Dr. Hanna Mularkey and Dr. Sarah Danser, is no longer in-network with Delta Dental. This was not an easy decision, and it’s one we’ve spent a great deal of time carefully considering.

The good news is that you can absolutely continue seeing us. Delta Dental PPO plans still include out-of-network benefits, which means your insurance can still be used toward your care—just in a different way than before.

When a provider is out-of-network, Delta Dental typically reimburses a portion of your care directly to you, rather than at contracted in-network rates. Coverage and reimbursement amounts vary by individual plan, so we encourage you to contact Delta Dental directly to ask:

• What are my out-of-network benefits?
• What percentage does my plan reimburse?
• How does my deductible apply for out-of-network care?

We understand that some patients may choose to transition to an in-network provider, and while that truly makes us sad, we respect and support whatever decision is best for you and your family. Losing any of our patients is incredibly difficult, and we are deeply grateful for the trust you’ve placed in us over the years.
