🪥 Keep up with brushing & flossing: Busy school mornings are no excuse to skip good oral hygiene!
🍎 Pack smile friendly snacks: Choose nutritious, tooth friendly options when possible.
💧 Encourage water: Water is always a great choice for keeping little smiles hydrated and rinsing away leftover food.
🦷 Stay on top of orthodontic appointments: Regular visits help keep treatment progressing as planned.
🏀 Protect that smile: If your child plays sports, make sure they wear a properly fitted mouthguard especially if they have braces!

📚🦷 Back to school is the perfect time to start your smile journey!

Our patient got his braces on, and we couldn’t be more excited for him! Starting treatment before school is a great way to get adjusted to your new braces while establishing a routine for brushing, flossing, and wearing rubber bands (if prescribed).

Did you know?
✨ The first few days after getting braces are usually when you’ll notice the most soreness, but it gets better quickly as your mouth adjusts.
✨ Going back to school with braces is easier than you might think! Just remember to pack a braces-friendly lunch and keep a travel toothbrush handy!
✨ The sooner you get started, the sooner you’ll be on your way to a healthier bite and a confident new smile.

Those little rubber bands may seem simple, but they’re one of the most important parts of your treatment! They help move your teeth and jaws into their ideal positions but only when they’re worn exactly as Dr. Sandifer prescribes.

🚫 Never double up on your rubber bands. Wearing two at a time won’t make your teeth move faster. In fact, using extra force can move teeth in the wrong direction, slow your progress, or even damage the teeth and supporting tissues.

🚫 Don’t borrow rubber bands from a friend. Every patient has a customized treatment plan, and rubber bands come in different sizes and strengths. What works for someone else could actually work against your treatment.

🚫 Don’t order your own online. Rubber bands purchased online may not be the correct size, strength, or quality for your specific treatment. We carefully choose the exact type you need based on your bite and treatment goals.

✅ If you run low, just give our office a call or stop by! We’re always happy to provide the right rubber bands for your smile!

Remember: The best results come from following your treatment plan exactly as prescribed. Those tiny rubber bands make a BIG difference, and wearing them correctly is one of the fastest ways to stay on track for your dream smile! 🦷✨
