🦷 What is dental bone grafting, and when might it be needed?
When a tooth is lost, the jawbone in that area can gradually shrink because it no longer receives the same stimulation from the tooth root. Bone loss can also be associated with gum disease, injury, aging, and other factors.
Dental bone grafting is a procedure used to rebuild and strengthen areas where bone has been lost. Depending on the location and extent of bone loss, different grafting techniques and materials may be considered.
If you’ve been told you may need a bone graft before dental implant placement, understanding the process is an important first step.
