Overjet and overbite. Two terms people mix up constantly. Here's the actual difference. 🦷

Overbite is vertical, how much your top teeth overlap your bottom teeth when you bite down. Overjet is horizontal, how far your top teeth stick out in front of your bottom teeth. If you've ever felt like your teeth "stick out," that's overjet, not overbite.

The ideal range for both is 1 to 2mm. Anything outside that range comes with real risks.

Too much overbite, and your bottom teeth can actually touch the roof of your mouth, creating a traumatic bite that wears teeth down over time.

Too much overjet, especially if your upper lip can't fully cover your teeth, increases the risk of tooth fracture from impact or everyday accidents.

And if either one is too shallow, teeth can end up meeting edge to edge, rubbing against each other in a way that wears down roots and damages the structures supporting your teeth.

This is exactly why we don't just aim for straight teeth. We aim for the right relationship between your teeth, because that's what actually protects them long term. 🦷✨

If someone told you jaw surgery is the only way to widen an adult palate, that information is about ten years out of date. 🦷

Here's what's actually true. The roof of your mouth is two bones joined down the middle. In kids, that joint is still soft, so a simple expander opens it right up. In adults, that joint has fused, which means a regular expander can't open it at all. It just tips your teeth outward instead, doing nothing to the actual bone.

MARPE changes the anchor point entirely. We place mini screws directly into the bone of the palate, so the force goes into the bone, not your teeth.

The joint opens. The arch widens. No operating room. No surgery.

2mm of expansion. And you can already see the difference. 🦷

This is a real patient sharing her own MARPE journey, and honestly, moments like this are some of the most valuable content we can share.

Hearing from a provider is one thing. But hearing directly from someone actually going through the process? That hits different, and it's so much easier to relate to.

Beyond the visible facial changes, patients going through MARPE often notice real improvements in their sleep and breathing along the way, not just their smile.

Thank you to every patient who's ever shared their journey with us. Seeing it through your eyes helps so many others considering treatment. 🤍

"A little bit good," she says. 😂🤍

Straight from Amyra herself, and honestly, we think it's more than a little bit amazing.

There's something really special about being able to care for your own kids the way you care for every patient who walks through our doors. Same love, same attention, just extra meaningful when it's your own.

By age 7, your child should have their first orthodontic consultation. Here's why that number matters. 🦷

At this age, the incisors are already in, which means we can actually start to see how dental development is unfolding. It's not too early, it's exactly the right window.

Age 7 has been the long-standing benchmark for early interceptive orthodontics for a reason. This is when we can catch things like crowding, crossbites, or jaw development issues while there's still room to guide growth in the right direction.

An early evaluation doesn't mean early treatment. Most kids won't need anything right away. But it means nothing gets missed, and if something does need attention, we catch it at the ideal time. 🦷✨

If your child hasn't had their first orthodontic evaluation yet, this is your sign. Comment "INFO" and let's get them scheduled. Your consultation is completely free.

Crowding, corrected. Straight, aligned, and built to last. 🦷

This transformation was achieved with braces, giving us the precision needed to fully correct the crowding and bring everything into proper alignment.

Crowded teeth are one of the most commonly ignored dental issues, and a lot of people just learn to live with it. 🦷

Here's why that's worth reconsidering. Crowding makes certain areas of your mouth genuinely difficult to brush and floss properly, no matter how consistent you are with your routine.

Over time, that missed cleaning takes a toll on your periodontal health, gums and the supporting structures around your teeth start to suffer in ways that aren't always obvious right away.

This is actually one of the most common reasons general dentists and periodontal specialists refer adult patients to us. Crowding isn't just a cosmetic concern, it's a functional one that can escalate if left untreated.

If your teeth feel harder to clean than they should be, that's worth a closer look. 🦷✨

Let's walk through what actually happens during MARPE treatment and why the process looks the way it does.

As the upper jaw expands, patients start to notice gaps forming between their teeth. That's not a side effect to worry about, it's actually a sign the expansion is working exactly as it should.

The bigger picture here is about more than just space. Narrow, restricted smiles often come with those dark spaces at the corners of the mouth, called buccal corridors. As the jaw widens, teeth naturally fill in that space, creating a fuller, more aesthetic smile.

Some patients notice their midface or nose base widen slightly during this process. That's expected, and it stays balanced with the rest of their facial profile rather than looking exaggerated.

Once expansion is complete, those gaps that formed along the way get closed and refined through the next phase of treatment, typically Invisalign or braces, bringing everything into its final, polished position.

It's a process, but every stage has a purpose. 🦷✨
