My veneers came back from the lab, and I’ll be honest, part of me just wanted to be done.

But a couple of things weren’t exactly what I wanted. So they went back.

This is where I practice differently. A lot of offices would call that close enough and move on. I don’t. The difference between a smile that looks finished and one that looks like you is in the details most people never notice, like the curve of an edge, the way light moves through porcelain, how it sits against your lips when you laugh.

I didn’t rush that for myself, and I won’t rush it for you. If it’s not as close to perfect as I can make it, it goes back to the lab. You should never have to settle for your smile. 🤍

Honestly, I skip these the best I can. But if this is part of your routine, here’s what I recommend…

Acid temporarily softens your enamel, and your saliva needs time to strengthen it again. Wait at least 30 to 60 minutes before you brush.

Rinse with plain water right after to help neutralize the acid.

A straw helps keep it off your teeth, and having it with a meal is gentler than sipping it slowly all morning.

Enamel doesn’t grow back, so protecting it is the most underrated luxury there is.

The right shade is often the difference between a smile that looks natural and one that looks done. ✨

Go too bright or too opaque, and it’s obvious. If that’s the look you want, that’s fine. But in my opinion, the most beautiful smiles are bright and still believable.

When it came time to choose my own, I held myself to the same standard I use with my patients. I wanted brighter than before, but still me.

The right white is the one nobody questions. 🤍

The moment she came in, I could see the details were working against her. She already had a beautiful smile, there were just a few things I wanted to address.

When designing her smile, I made sure to bring every tooth into proportion and give her a natural, brighter shade that really showcased the beautiful smile she already had.

Same smile. Just the way it was always meant to look.

Now I understand why my patients call this their least favorite step. 😅

Living in temporaries is a little tricky. Eating takes more thought, and you’re very aware of your smile all day.

But wearing them myself taught me more about what I want than any photo or model could. I noticed what felt natural, what I’d change, and what I’m keeping for the final porcelain.

I honestly can’t imagine committing to veneers without living in them first. 🤍

Are they veneers? Tom Brady ✨

In my opinion, yes.

This is probably one of the better celebrity smiles. You can see how beautifully it elevates not only his smile, but his entire face.

The proportions, shape, and overall harmony are so well done that the result still feels natural.

And that’s the difference between good veneers and veneers that aren’t done well. Even though they are veneers, it’s almost hard to tell.

Honestly? This is probably the most important step of the entire process.

Temporaries let you live in your new smile, see what works, change what doesn’t, and know what you’re getting. Without it, you’re going in blind.

Most people think you get veneers and just hope you love them. But would you buy an outfit without trying it on first? 👀

Sometimes a smile just needs a refresh to truly come alive. ✨

He came in with four veneers that were placed years ago. Techniques have advanced since then, and combined with natural wear and tear and the fact that his smile wasn’t fully in proportion with the rest of his features, it was the right time for a change.

My goal when designing was one cohesive smile, top and bottom, so nothing looked “done” in pieces. We placed 20 veneers in total, refining the proportions, creating a consistent shade, and bringing everything into balance with his face.

Same person. Completely different smile.
