Good oral hygiene goes beyond the basics π Here are four tips you might not know for keeping your smile healthy:
β‘οΈ Don't Brush Immediately After Eating - If you've had something acidic such as citrus fruits or soda, your enamel can temporarily soften and become more vulnerable. Rinse your mouth with water and give your saliva time (about 30 minutes) to neutralize the acids before brushing.
β‘οΈ Watch Out For "All-Day" Drinks - It's not just how much sugar you consume, but also how frequently your teeth are exposed to it. Slowly sipping on energy drinks, coffee, or other sugary drinks all day long lowers the pH in your mouth and can contribute to tooth decay. Stick to enjoying them during meals and choose water for sipping in between.
β‘οΈ Replace Your Toothbrush Every 3 Months - As bristles get worn, torn, and bent, they become less effective at removing plaque from your teeth and along the gumline. A good rule of thumb is to replace your toothbrush or electric brush head every 3 months (or sooner if necessary).
β‘οΈ Use A C-Shape When Flossing - Instead of just snapping floss between your teeth, gently curve it into a C-shape around the side of each tooth and move it up and down, extending into the gumline, to effectively clean the full surface.
The little things matter! Keep these tips in mind to get even more out of your daily oral hygiene routine.
