Dr. Clayton was born in Maryville, Tennessee and moved to Huntsville just before starting high school at Grissom High. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Sciences from Auburn University then attended dental school at The University of Alabama in Birmingham. After completing dental school, Dr. Clayton spent an additional year of training at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi, receiving a certificate of Advanced Education in General Dentistry. After completing her schooling, Dr. Clayton spent nearly three years working for a not-for-profit corporation in northern Florida, providing much needed dental services to the poor and underserved before returning to north Alabama to be near her family. In 2008, Dr. Clayton completed her requirements for the prestigious Fellowship Award in the Academy of General Dentistry and will receive the award in the summer of 2009. In addition to the Academy of General Dentistry, Dr. Clayton is also a member of the Huntsville-Madison County Dental Society, Women’s Dental Association, the Alabama Dental Association, and the American Dental Association. Aside from dentistry, Dr. Clayton is involved in Women’s Ministries at her church. She also enjoys day-hiking and dancing; Dr. Clayton has even danced in two local ballroom dance shows to raise money for Hospice Family Care.
