Retainers do not last forever 😅

Bleeding gums are not a personality trait 😬

They are a sign of inflammation.

When plaque accumulates along the gumline, your body responds. The tissue becomes swollen and fragile, which makes it bleed more easily during brushing or flossing.

The encouraging part is that early gum disease is reversible. With consistent home care and professional cleanings, the inflammation can calm down and the tissue can heal.

Healthy gums do not bleed.

Your mouth is not separate from your body 👄

Persistent gum inflammation has been linked to cardiovascular disease. Recurrent infections and delayed healing can be signs of uncontrolled diabetes. Early changes in the oral mucosa or persistent sores can be the first warning signs of oral cancer. Ongoing periodontal disease is being studied for its relationship to cognitive decline.

Dentists examine the only part of the body where bone and soft tissue are visible without surgery. Subtle changes in the mouth can reflect broader health patterns.

A gentle reminder that prevention is not cosmetic—it’s medical.
