Welcome Facebook family to Thankful Thursday.

We are at the close of another week.
It’s been a good one.
We certainly have a lot to celebrate as we go into the last weekend before school starts.
It’s amazing how fast the summer went. It seems as though graduation was a few days ago instead of three months.
This month marks our 70th Anniversary of Doing Dentistry in Sunnyside.
It also marks the 3rd year of my mother’s departure from this world.
With all the emotions swirling in my head it’s amazing that I have managed to still render service for a lot of people’s needs and wants. Credit for my achievements goes to the team members at Poindexter Dental Inc; without them patients would be in big trouble.
Moving forward I am asked quite often, When are you going to retire and who’s going to take over for you?
While I am steady I plan on working, we have been looking for an Associate Dentist, I am looking into leases and nothing is happening yet!
For now plans are to continue to work M- Th 8 am to 5 pm, but when I find the opportunity I will be working T, W, and Th.
So let’s continue to celebrate the sacrifices Zeb and Ruby Poindexter Jr. made in the 1950s so that we can still have a place to call our own in 2026 and beyond!

Since 1841 HOUSTON POLICE DEPARTMENT has been serving the people .
Houston is the most diverse city in the country and quickly becoming the third largest city in the United States.
Making sure our streets are safe from criminal activity, to responding urgently to disasters and reaching the members of our communities who are most in need.
There are many roles they must play and the training is very rigorous.
Today the training is very broad covering the myriad of stresses that comes with the job.
Preparing for the challenges they are going to face the academy makes an organizational effort to ensure mind, body and spirit are honed into a workable format for healthy work life.
Wellness and resilience are goals that at the forefront of the training.

Yesterday a patient thanked me for saving his life. I said. you’re welcome. Seeing as he is an Ordained Minister, Special Ed Teacher and etc. So many years have passed and so many cross roads we have traveled, I didn’t want to ask anymore questions.
It was late in the day and he was due for his maintenance visit.
He said,”” “ Wait doc. I’m serious. Let me tell you , you saved my life.”
I stopped long enough for him to explain that he listened to me when last I took his vital signs and told him to go see his primary physician. Water several attempts the medical people couldn’t get his Heart right and he ended up having a Pacemaker put in.
The team at Poindexter Dental saved his life: The DA took his vital signs, the Hygienist cleaned his teeth, the Administration did all the paperwork and I pay the Taxes…..lol

The sooner the better.
Implants are a great adjunct to the teeth.
If you do a good job of maintaining your teeth you will live better. If you replace missing teeth with Implants quickly you will live better. The best advice is to use the best knowledge available.

As I take a moment to reflect on the sudden passing of my cousin Calvin Revis, I am reminded of the importance of prioritizing overall health. Over the past six days, I have been focused on celebrating a significant milestone in my grandson Skye's life - his graduation with a Master's in Supply Chain Management. Skye's academic journey is particularly noteworthy, as he successfully balanced work and school ; more successfully than I did!
Following a meeting with my SEO team yesterday evening, I was inspired to share some thoughts on this page. Our discussion centered around expanding our reach to new individuals and promoting oral health. This conversation resonated deeply with me, given my profession at Poindexter Dental Inc. Calvin had been managing Diabetes for decades, but I know he only visited the dentist as required. In our last conversation about his oral health, I emphasized the link between Gingivitis and systemic health issues, particularly Diabetes. Despite our diagnosis and treatment plan, he did not follow through. As someone who works in dentistry, much like my father, I have emphasized the importance of regular oral hygiene and preventative care. While Calvin was diligent about managing his Diabetes, I firmly believe that adhering to a regular dental care schedule could have potentially extended his life. I hope that his story can serve as a reminder of the critical role oral health plays in overall well-being.
