Stop judging your smile in the mirror. Nobody else ever sees that one.

In the mirror, you're giving the pose smile. Held still, lips parked exactly where you want them. Everybody else sees you mid-laugh, mid-sentence, mid-story. That smile moves, and it's the one people actually remember.

And the pose hides a lot. You've learned to cover an uneven gum line or a tooth that sits a little off. Nobody holds that lip in place through a genuinely funny joke.

Here's what should bother you. A smile designed off a posed photo is designed for the version of you that only exists in photos. We want your laugh before we plan anything, because that's when the gum heights and the asymmetries show up. Design the smile you actually use.

Heavy metals are on the periodic table, which puts them in the ground, in the water, and in everything that grows or swims in either one. Your toothpaste didn't invent them.

The questions worth asking are how much, and whether it ends up inside you. Toothpaste gets two minutes in your mouth and then goes down the sink. The tuna melt stays for dinner.

If a label is selling you fear of an element, ask why it's only worried about the tube.

So do we fear the whole periodic table, or just the part printed on toothpaste?

Your favorite celebrity's smile would probably look wrong on you.

A great smile works like a great suit or a great dress. It's cut for one person. Your face sets the frame, and the teeth have to fit inside it. That smile you saw online was built for their face, their lips, their proportions.

Here's where it goes sideways. Plenty of dentists have one smile they like, and they put it on everybody. Same shape and length on every patient. On some people it works. On others it looks bad, because it was never tailored to them.

The fix is temporaries. When you're in them, you're taking the car home and driving it for a few days, figuring out which package you like. That's where we dial in what looks and feels natural on you. Not enough dentists give you those few days.

Old photos of Kanye show he had really good teeth to start with. That makes the job easier and harder at the same time. There's less to fix, and more to lose if the new work drifts from what made the original smile work.

He's had work done, and it's a good job. It fits his face. Without a zoomed-in shot I can't break down the edges and translucency the way I could on a close-up, so this one's a wider-angle read.

Where it slips is the buccal corridors, the shadowed space at the corners of a smile, between the back teeth and the cheeks. His smile carries more teeth out toward those corners than suits him. It isn't bad work. It's just a little more smile than his face calls for.

I have a guess who his dentist is. I'm keeping it to myself.

Technically, I'm making the crown. The implant is the post that goes into the bone first, and this sits on top of it. That's two pieces of work from one bottle cap.

Right now I'm hand-staining it so it matches the teeth next to it. Nobody should be able to tell which one lost to the b**r.

Somewhere along the way, the toothpaste aisle turned into a political identity.

The less exciting truth is that fluoride strengthens enamel and has decades of research behind it. Nano-hydroxyapatite mimics the mineral your enamel is already made of, and its research is still catching up. Either one is a reasonable pick.

The question that matters more is which one you'll actually use twice a day. The best toothpaste on the market can't help you on the nights you skip brushing.

Dental school covers anatomy, occlusion, and reading X-rays. Framing a shot and figuring out lighting never came up.

Then you started sending questions, and answering them on camera became part of the job. The "minor celeb" part is generous. The videographer part is very real.

The giveaway is the space between the teeth.

Natural teeth taper as they get close to each other. The edges round down near the biting surface and leave tiny soft gaps. [Celebrity Name] has that. So does pretty much every smile that grew in on its own.

Rushed veneer work tends to lose it. The lines sit too close together, there's a little dip where two teeth meet, and suddenly a dozen different faces are wearing the same smile.

If she's had work, bravo to whoever did it. My honest guess is whitening and maybe some orthodontics somewhere along the way. Whitening's about as normal as it gets. Most teeth come in a little yellow, and most of us want them brighter. Nothing to hide there.

What really sells it is how well her teeth follow her face.

The bonding step is the part patients never see, and it's the part that decides how long a veneer actually lasts. Skip the isolation, use a lower grade bonding agent, and that margin starts to break down years before it should. That's the corner that saves a lab a few dollars and costs you a redo down the line.

The shape work here is genuinely good. Well positioned, real contours, whoever built this understood the mouth. Then the shade got picked with zero translucency, and the whole thing blocks light like a wall instead of catching it like a tooth does. That's what separates white from alive. You can go lighter and still look real if there's any depth built into the restoration. Some money just buys a brighter mistake. Where's your line, does whiter always read as better to you?
