Help all of us in this pandemic: If you are feeling flu-like symptoms, including change or loss of taste and smell, get tested—and isolate if positive. As a public service notice: Ryan Nickerson of the Houston Chronicle reports that Memorial Village Emergency Room offers 24/7 Covid-19 testing. They are at 14520 Memorial Drive. Both rapid test and PCR are offered.

OFFICE UPDATE: I want to explain why we use ultra-low fogging in our office and why it is an important adjunct to infection control. It has been determined that the virus causing Covid-19 is easily transmitted in the air through a process called aerosolization. This means that talking, coughing, or sneezing can result in the virus being in the air, by some estimates, for up to 16 hours. This is why mask-wearing is so important. In our office this is why we wear surgical gowns, 95-facemasks, shields and gloves. Fogging allows us to eliminate aerosolized viruses, and also exposed surfaces in the operatory and office. We fog with hypochlorous acid liquid that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) lists as effective in killing the virus in under one minute. It is important to emphasize that we do fogging in the operatory and patient pathways between each patient, and for the entire office every day. Also this is in addition to our normal disinfecting and sterilizing procedures common to all dental offices. Contact us for more information, or to make an appointment: Phone: 281 597 9419 or email: [email protected].

Dental Office Update: May 25, 2020
We have re-opened our office and are now seeing patients again. Please call us to make an appointment. Remember that we are observing additional precautions against Covid-19 and we have changed the way Patients make appointments and enter and leave the office. We continue to utilize the utmost precautions in protecting you, the patient and us, the staff from contamination and transmission of infection. This makes it important that we have a reliable way to reach you the day before your appointment so we can ask screening questions and answer any question you might have. If you need us we can be reached at our office: 281 597 9419, Tuesday-Friday or by email: [email protected]. Our emergency contact remains 713 408 4102. Remember: we have prepared our office to be a safe place to receive your dental care

The first thing to realize is that Dental Offices have always been the safest places to be due to the strict attention we give to sterilization, disinfecting and infection control. We utilize the utmost precautions in protecting you, the patient and us, the staff from contamination and transmission of infection. Next, since we are still observing precautions against Covid-19, we have added a series of protocols to add layers of control over its transmission. In our office we have added air purification units, UV infection control to our circulation air system, additional scheduled office disinfecting procedures that are repeated every day and during the day. Finally, we have changed the way Patients make appointments, enter and leave the office. This makes it important that we have a reliable way to reach you the day before your appointment so we can reliably ask screening questions and answer any question you might have. Remember: we have prepared our office to be a safe place to receive your dental care!

April 25, 2020
OUR DENTAL OFFICE UPDATE: We are preparing to open our office soon and start seeing patients again. The state of Texas has closed all dental offices to help control the spread of the covid-19 virus. Hopefully we can open the week of May 11. Keep in mind that we have ALWAYS maintained the highest level of infection control including sterilization and disinfection. To these practices we have added steps suggested by health and licensing authorities and professional dental associations. As we get closer to scheduling patients we will go into more detail about changes in our dental office designed to protect everyone. There’s more: During this short down time we are still available: If you need us we can be reached at our office email: [email protected]. We are monitoring this every day. Our emergency contact remains 713 408 4102. We are still up and running and have access to all your records and histories.

DENTAL OFFICE UPDATE March 20, 2020: To all my dental patients and friends, and to dental patients everywhere, I offer the following information about my office and dental appointments. Last week we decided to close the office this week so we could assess the true state of the pandemic locally and confirm all the recommended ADA and CDC protocols that we use in our office to maintain a safe treatment environment for our patients. It seems that everyday news about the coronavirus epidemic get progressively worse. Together, my office and patients can do our part to control the spread of this virus and thereby save lives and buy time to develop treatments and vaccines. The American Dental Association (ADA) has sent recommendations to all U.S. dentists to help protect you as well as the dental professionals who serve you. FOR MY OFFICE: For the next three weeks we will only be seeing patients in need of emergency dental care related to the relief of pain and infection management. All elective and non-essential procedures will be postponed for the next three weeks. Also, if you have an upcoming hygiene or non-urgent appointment, we will contact you soon to reschedule, and notify you once we are fully prepared to resume normal activity. Please contact us as needed at our email: [email protected], or in case of emergency, at 713 408 4102. We are also on Facebook: Family Dentistry Nils Bengtson, DDS.
