Why is it inadvisable to kiss your baby on the lips and permit close relatives to do so? Are you aware that a 10-second kiss can transmit approximately 8 million bacteria? This can also occur through sharing a straw or drinking from the same cup or bottle. When adults or children contract these bacteria and viruses, they may develop glandular disease, herpes, the common cold, hepatitis C, papilloma, meningitis, etc. It is recommended to refrain from kissing when someone has a lip or mouth ulcer, a common cold, or fever, and to practice good oral hygiene.

How Fortunate I was to learn from the Best TMJ experts who have taught and published books. They held my hands as I took cases of TMJ to treat and made me good at treating them. Thank you Dr.Witzig, Dr. Spahl, Dr. Cranaham, Dr. Rondeau and many more.
Thursday morning news with Gail King on CBS. Medicine does not teach much about TMJ (may be thinking it’s dentistry) and Dental schools do not teach enough thinking it is Medical school’s area to teach. There are some good books and good dentists who have studied it well and written books about it. It was horrifying to see how badly some of them were treated on this CBS news. Wish everyone practices Do No Harm, do not treat if you do not know how to treat. Know what you do not know.

Do you really need lead apron and thyroid collar during dental X- rays? Dentistry has come a long way to reduce radiation by taking fewer x- rays and modern X-ray machines. We just purchased two new x-ray machines in two rooms.
Here’s what new study says. After reviewing numerous published studies on radiography, notes the press release, the panel “determined lead aprons and thyroid collars are not necessary to shield patients from radiation exposure,” with evidence indicating that modern digital x-ray equipment that restricts the beam size to the area that needs to be imaged adequately protects patients against radiation exposure to other parts of their body.

The Council’s recommendations are aligned with those released by the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology in August 2023 that state in part that “On the basis of radiation doses from contemporaneous maxillofacial imaging, the committee considered that the risks from thyroid cancer are negligible and recommends that thyroid shielding not be used during intraoral, panoramic, cephalometric, and cone-beam computed tomographic imaging.”

The ADA recommendations were published in an article in the Journal of the American Dental Association (JADA).

February is a Children’s Dental Health Month, let’s remind all children rule of 2-2-2 , that is Brush, Floss twice a day and go visit your dentist twice a year to keep your dental health. Avoid sugary food. If you do consume sugar-brush, floss and rinse to avoid cavities. It is very important to monitor Kid’s growth when visiting dentist for early intervention if needed to have beautiful smile and better breathing.
