Ceramic Veneers vs. Composite Veneers: What’s the Difference?
When it comes to cosmetic dentistry, the material matters — and so does the final look.
Ceramic veneers are made from porcelain/ceramic material. They are strong, translucent, and reflect light in a way that looks natural, bright, and alive. This is what creates that beautiful, elegant smile people love.
Composite veneers are made from composite resin material. While they can be useful in certain cases, they are usually less durable, less translucent, and can look more dull over time. Composite can also chip, stain, and develop dark lines or leakage around the edges as the years go by.
At our practice, we mostly use composite restorations as a temporary solution — especially for younger patients or teenagers who had trauma to their front teeth. Once they become adults, we often recommend transitioning to ceramic restorations for a stronger, longer-lasting, and more natural-looking result.
Why do we choose ceramic veneers for most adult cosmetic cases?
✅ More natural translucency
✅ Beautiful light reflection
✅ Stronger and longer-lasting
✅ Better color stability
✅ Ability to change tooth shape, size, and position
✅ Designed to create a truly aesthetic smile
In our office, 99% of the veneers we create are ceramic because they allow us to design smiles that look natural, beautiful, and built to last.
