Ceramic Veneers vs. Composite Veneers: What’s the Difference?

When it comes to cosmetic dentistry, the material matters — and so does the final look.

Ceramic veneers are made from porcelain/ceramic material. They are strong, translucent, and reflect light in a way that looks natural, bright, and alive. This is what creates that beautiful, elegant smile people love.

Composite veneers are made from composite resin material. While they can be useful in certain cases, they are usually less durable, less translucent, and can look more dull over time. Composite can also chip, stain, and develop dark lines or leakage around the edges as the years go by.

At our practice, we mostly use composite restorations as a temporary solution — especially for younger patients or teenagers who had trauma to their front teeth. White teeth alone don’t create a truly beautiful smile.

We Saved Her Teeth — and Created a Beautiful Smile

Our patient traveled to us from Dallas after being told in Texas that all of her teeth should be removed and replaced with a full removable denture.
The problem with that plan?

A traditional full denture can come with major disadvantages — poor retention, discomfort, a closed palate, and reduced ability to fully enjoy the taste and temperature of food.

Instead of removing her teeth, we saved all of her natural teeth and created a custom cosmetic denture with an open palate. The result is so beautifully blended that it is hard to tell where her natural teeth end and the denture begins.
