FOGGING MADE EASY:
I have been asked by many Patients and other Doctors about hypochlorous acid fogging. Therefore, I’ve put together this document to alleviate hours of research to gather all the necessary components to purchase and the ‘how to’ fog quickly and easily on our website https://www.lyfordsmiles.com/

Sources for Hypochlorous Acid:

We use the Ecolux Generator, it is easy to use and produces 1 liter of 200 ppm hypochlorous acid at the appropriate pH. If one amortizes the cost of the generator over 5 years and the cost of white vinegar and non-iodized (Kosher) salt the cost is 4 cents per liter. One liter fogs a long way. It has a shelf life of several weeks if stored airtight, at room temperature, away from UV light (out of the sun). It is so inexpensive to make, we make it fresh every week. It also comes with two sets of test strips, one for pH and one for actual hypochlorous acid concentration.

I have also included a list of commercially available sources of hypochlorous acid including Purtab and Brutab, which are preformulated tablets with a longer shelf life that are dissolved in the appropriate volume of water. As with the Ecolux Generator, tap water is fine, you do not need distilled water.

True Foggers:

The most important aspect of a true fogger is the particle size it emits. Ideally particle size ranges from 15-30 ums. Some inexpensive ones are not foggers but misters. When fogged the rooms floor should not be wet, if they are then the particle size is too large. The ideal concentration for fogging is 200 ppm hypochlorous acid.

Responsibilities include:

Chairside: 4 handed dental assisting for all aspects of:
Restorative dentistry both fixed and removable prosthetics, periodontal surgery including laser assisted periodontal surgery, oral surgery, aligner orthodontics, endodontics, implant restoration, and TMJ therapy.

Specific skills will include:
 Fabricating provisional crowns
 Alginate and polyvinyl siloxane impressions
 Acquiring facebows with Denar and Panadent systems
 Adjusting/ inserting orthotic appliances such as nightguards/ TMJ appliances
 Digital Radiography - Intraoral photography
 Oral Surgery /Implant Surgery and Bone Grafting Experience –
 Experience w/IV Sedation helpful
 Managing the patient under oral conscious sedation, including monitoring vital signs, patient education preoperatively
 Patient education and communication; clarifying treatment options, pre-op and post-op education

Instrumentation:
Overseeing office sterilization protocols for all instruments
Maintaining inventory of consumables and of instruments
Maintaining and overseeing maintenance cycles of handpieces (electric)
Maintaining laser supplies

Laboratory:
Tracking lab cases-coordination with schedule coordinator
In house lab skills needed:
 Pour models - Mount models on articulators - Fabricate bleaching trays (KOR)
 Fabricate sports guards - Fabricate custom trays - Fabricate surgical stents for implant cases

Equipment:
Maintain equipment and maintenance log including but not limited to curing lights, compressor, suction apparatus, vacuum traps, water lines, and operatory lighting. Maintain nitrous oxide system, including tank change

Key Skills:
Computer literacy: MS Office, Dentrix
Ability to chart with the computer, use treatment planner
Capability of excellent communication with patients of all ages, empathy for the apprehensive, and patience with difficult patients of all ages. Curiosity and desire to learn new techniques

Dental Hygienist - Full / Part Time/Temp (Hollis)

We are looking for an enthusiastic experienced hygienist capable of motivating and communicating to patients their dental needs both periodontally, restoratively, and aesthetically. Someone to work independently and contribute to recommended treatment with the Doctor. Someone that is serious about our commitment to above average hygiene care. You will need to work on your own and help develop a plan for the individual patient, and keep patients motivated. We accomplish significant periodontal, oral surgery including bone grafting, and place implants.

Understanding the concept of "complete care" and a thorough understanding of and ability to communicate the importance of restorative dentistry including implant restoration, laser therapy, TMJ, and periodontal disease and how these are related is important for this position.

Our patients are used to excellent professional empathetic and respectful therapy by our hygienists. It is paramount that your touch be thorough and gentle. Our hygienists routinely administer local anesthetics and nitrous oxide as well, certification in these is important.

Familiarity with digital radiography, Dentrix (or other dental software is a requirement), Diagnodent, ultrasonics, prophyjet, hand scaling/ polishing, root planing /scaling, periodontal reevaluation, Arestin/Periochip utilization, bleaching system, and triage of emergency patients is recommended. Computer literacy is crucial, a working knowledge of MSOffice.
