Prosthodontics (also known as dental prosthetics or prosthetic dentistry) is one of the nine dental specialties recognized by the American Dental Association (ADA). Prosthodontists specialize in the diagnosis, restoration, and replacement of missing teeth and are dedicated to the highest standards of care. Prosthodontists restore oral function through the placement of restorations or dental prosth

eses (dentures, crowns, implants, etc.). Extensive training and experience give prosthodontists a unique understanding of restoring the esthetics of a smile and function of a healthy mouth. Becoming a prosthodontist requires an additional three years of specialty training after obtaining a DMD (Doctor of Dental Medicine) or DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery) degree. This specialized training must be completed at an ADA-accredited prosthodontic education program. This is where prosthodontists are highly trained in state-of-the-art techniques and procedures for treating complex dental conditions. They also learn how to restore the optimum function and esthetics of a smile.

Patients always ask about “teeth in a day.” It’s a fairly specialized procedure where all teeth are removed, dental implants are placed and temporary teeth are screwed on the implants in one day. It requires lots of preoperative planning and measurements to get an ideal result. The patient usually wears the temporary teeth for about three months while the implants heal in the jaw. Following complete healing, the temporary teeth will be remade in a more durable and wear resistant material.

Dedication to the craft of removable prosthodontics. I am blessed to be able to work with my lab technician who has the same attention to detail and skill that I give to my patients everyday. Maxillary obturator x mandibular complete denture. No implants, analog workflow, the way it’s been done for years. Digital dentures are impressive, but not right for every case. Yes, it takes more time. Single process, dense acrylic using injection processing, high stength, wear resistant, high quality esthetic denture teeth. Minimal adjustments, happy patient.
